Team Sadowsky. Hey I just took delivery of a Verdine White 5 and really like it. So, I'm moving this MetroExpress out if anyone has interest. Its a terrific instrument that you won't mind gigging regularly. I'm owner one and it is mint. The ash/maple is snappy. Did I mention its under 7.6 pounds with no neck dive? Balances perfectly. Very comfortable.

Just picked up the PJ today. Feels and sounds great. Well, when soloing bridge pickup, the output is weak. Is that a normal or may be a pickup problem?

Typically, the P pickup has more output than the J - as is the case with my MV5-PJ. May have to slightly adjust both pickups’ height (P lower, J higher) to get a better match between the two.

My passive Fender P has significantly more output than my active Sadowsky WL5 JJ. Have to lower the gain when I switch to avoid clipping. Both are amazing.

They are different than a JJ or PJ. It took me some time to get over that. It is now one of my main gigging tools!

You may need to raise the bridge J. Start with our setup specs: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

See how you land after adjusting to those specs. If it’s still too low, try raising the bridge pickup to match output of the P.

Has anyone had Roger and the team re-route the neck pocket on an older bass to bring it up to the newer spec? I would love to do that to my early 90's Standard JJ5. I'm curious how pricey it is -- Or is it smarter to just get a clear pick guard to close that gap?

Unfortunately, that is very difficult for us to do on a finished bass. That is why we recommend the pickguard option.

It's more because we have to hand make them in the shop if we don't already have them in stock (I made a tort 4-21 yesterday). We're so busy that it can take a while to make one and if we have to order one, that can also take a little while. That said, you may have to have your local luthier do some minor adjustments to get the perfect fit when you get it anyway. Obviously, bringing your bass in for a fit would be ideal, but that's not always a realistic option.

In any sense, if you need a pickguard for an NYC bass, give Will a call to discuss and we will take care of you.

Our current MetroExpress pickguards will fit our current NYC basses. MetroLine pickguards will only fit MetroLine basses. The issue with NYC basses is that we have changed our pickguard templates over the years so we really need to deal with everyone individually to know if our current guards will fit their bass or not. If they won't, then we need you to send your pickguard in for us to use as a template and we have to make them by hand.

Hey guys, sorry for the question but I been out of the loop for a while. What happen with the 40 anniversary finally? Was it a Marcus like J?
I love binding and the one one on my metro is perfect, absolutely love that Bass

Due to circumstances beyond our control, it looks like we will not be doing a 40th Anniversary model at this time.

As an alternative, I think it would be cool to have all NYC Basses made within the 40th Anniversary year get the 40th Anniversary stamp on the back of the headstock!

Since Roger "loves all his children" I guess it would kind of be difficult for him to build "Roger's bass" to note his 40th anniversary. After all, his first love is actually acoustic guitars, right? Sure did serve him well as a bass builder! When I practice my chambered NYC unplugged I often hear peers comment on how suprisingly resonate it is. Never hear that observation in regards to my other electrics.
