Would be cool to see a 5 knob setup. I’m sure the could do it.

I think I remember @Sadowsky saying that on the Standard model, the neck pocket was routed slightly deeper in order to keep the familiar body-to-string height that you would find on a vintage Fender or Vintage model Sadowsky. Comparing my NYC custom to Uncle Al’s Metro (yep it’s a Metro) it appears that the neck is set deeper on the NYC. The Metro May have the standard pocket depth for a Vintage model bass(?)

Looking at the basses currently available on the Sadowsky site it looks to me like the deeper set/tilted necks are only on the basses without pick guards. It’s a bit tricky eyeballing it, but the basses with pick guards don’t look like they have deeper/tilted necks.

Right. It’s to keep the same string-to-body height on basses with pickguards (Vintage) and no pickguards (Standard).

Has anyone had Roger and the team re-route the neck pocket on an older bass to bring it up to the newer spec? I would love to do that to my early 90's Standard JJ5. I'm curious how pricey it is -- Or is it smarter to just get a clear pick guard to close that gap?

I definitely like the clear guard idea better... that way you're not making any irreversible changes, which might matter to you later, and would very likely matter to the next owner if you ever chose to sell it. FWIW.

I'm at rehearsal. Things are going well. Then my volume knob starts wiggling and getting loose. I inspect and see that the washer has worked its way loose and needs to be tightened.

Rehearsal ends, it's late, I go home, I'm tired but I have to fix this now(!) Grab my tools, loosen the set screw and can't get the knob off. I loosen it more. Still can't get it off. I remove it completely. STILL can't get it off!

"What's the deal with this thing?!" I tug and pull... Just when I'm about to give up and go to bed I turn the knob and discover ANOTHER set screw! Two? Really??

It's fixed now, but I don't think I've ever seen a volume knob with multiple screws like that. Typical Sadowsky "extra" (not "over") engineering. Ha!
