Club Sadowsky!!!

Regarding the recent posts about pot noise.....
...
I would be interested to hear if some or all of these noise issues go away if you still have a hand on a string or the bridge...
I was actually just about to ask the same thing, except, could it also just be some kind of RF/static interaction that's suppressed by our body instead of any sort of shielding deficiency?

When I am final checking basses and I get some static from the VTC pot, it goes away when I touch the strings, so it has to be related to "ground" in some manner. I spray the pot until it is quiet, even if I am not touching the strings.

I apologize if this has been posted somewhere already, but a couple of days ago Roger said he would be shortly be posting the full description of all 3 new Warwick Sadowsky lines. Any news of this yet? Again, sorry if this has been addressed...

It’s less than 48hr since Roger’s post, they are still getting cleaned up from NAMM, Maybe give him a little while

Regarding the recent posts about pot noise.....

I personally check every pot for noise when I do my final inspection. I boost the treble control to max so I can hear these issues better.

The most important thing is to spray the pots. I still find the Lectricare spray we sell to be the best solution as it is a conductive cleaner. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I would be interested to hear if some or all of these noise issues go away if you still have a hand on a string or the bridge. It is possible that the shielding has deteriorated over time and the control cavity needs to be re-shielded.

Thanks! I will clean the pot first.

Its weird issue, its not ground statick or anything. I never had the same issue with Sadowsky before. It only happens when a note is ringing and im moving treble or bass pot. The noise is loud crackle and bass-frequency pops. It does not happen if not is not ringing! Touching strings/pots/bridge wont help, so I dont think its grounding issue. But! I start with cleaning the pots first :) Thanks!

I'm experiencing a similar phenomenon with an amp head. Can't touch the gain knob while a note is playing through but no problem when no signal goes in. I wonder if it's for the same cause.

FYI - I tried adjusting the bass, treble and pan pots on my 4-21 while a note was ringing on each string. No issues. Mine is silent.

Neither here, my NYC PJ4 is dead silent when turning the knobs (sound on or sound off) altough I have to clean the jack socket quite often; per Roger's recommendation I use a rolled 600 grit sand paper and a contact cleaner; Might be time to change it for a new one.

My understanding is that this kind of noise can come from residue/oxidation inside the pots. Contact cleaner usually helps, but in lieu of that, you can try "working" the pot by rapidly moving it back and forth (with amp volume down to avoid nasty noise).

If this is a misunderstanding / urban legend, please let me know...
