Even better, I'm waiting on Bass Club San Diego to see if they can get some Single Coils from Jimmy Coppolo.

Anyone need an AC LG5?

Now, back to Pot and Lube. I'm all verklempt.

I'm not a maple board guy, but will always admire an abalone pickguard on a black-bodied bass. Enjoy!

ElMon...if memory serves, didn’t you post a recent manifesto (when you were selling your MV5) about how you needed to face the fact that you were not a “Jazz Bass Guy”? This seems like a unique way of proceeding, LOL!

Smokin' bass. Good luck with it!

To be fair ... to me ... I am a P-Guy through and through.

However ...

Some of the folks I record with/play with want that J-Spank.

PBasses = Not that great at sounding like J-basses. I'm a genius, I know.

I heard there was free coffee at these meetings.

I get it...I have a MV5 with single coils that I don’t feel like I’ve ever fully bonded with. A few days ago I was toying with selling it, but then I just ordered a different color pickguard for it. Maybe that will make the difference! Sigh...

Was it tort? I keep reading on Talkbass that tort does something to the tone.

No...going from white pearl to black. Pretty radical move for me. Tort’s way outside my comfort zone :)

Gotcha. white pearl to black ... there's a 1k dip that'll really enhance your slap tone.

Personally I use an anodized gold guard on my PJ5, which wears flatwounds. I like to tell myself that the gold guard adds more top end sheen and protects my junk (I wear my strap low) from sniper rounds.

ElMon...you crack me up. You’re on my list as “Okie I’d most like to have a beer with someday” ;)

Regarding the recent posts about pot noise.....

I personally check every pot for noise when I do my final inspection. I boost the treble control to max so I can hear these issues better.

The most important thing is to spray the pots. I still find the Lectricare spray we sell to be the best solution as it is a conductive cleaner. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I would be interested to hear if some or all of these noise issues go away if you still have a hand on a string or the bridge. It is possible that the shielding has deteriorated over time and the control cavity needs to be re-shielded.

Roger

Not a Sadowsky owner, but I went to the site and placed an order after reading this. Thanks!

I work in a full service 2way radio and electronics shop (30yrs now) we have used deoxit fader lube and spray in all type of pots and selectors and never had the first issue, literally thousands of times for years. So I guess YMMV.

I live in Australia and a lot of products are hard to find.
The Lectricare product Roger sells I managed to get in the UK (direct from Lectricare) but in Oz all I could find was Deoxit D5, not F5.
That's what I've been using on my NYC's so I hope it's ok?

Get out of my head!!!

Hey, you're in my head! Love your colour combo. Dis is my bad boy.
