How do you compare the 4-21 to the Fender Custom Classic? I don't mean tone so much, just the playability.
Man, I don’t even know how to answer this without sounding snobby. Ergonomics of my Sadowsky are perfect. The bass balances well, neck profile and finish have a great feel to it and IMO, no one sets-up a bass better than Sadowsky. I attribute part of that to the overall quality of the instrument and materials used and the other part to the undeniable skill of Roger and his team. Reach and overall feel of the bass is very similar to a standard Fender meaning you could switch between them and not have to adjust your playing style at all. Between the Custom Classic and 4-21, all I can say is I ordered the Fender in August 2011 and received my 4-21 in May 2017. If I knew in 2011 what I know now, I would have completely skipped the Custom Classic and ponied up for a Sadowsky from the beginning. To me the difference is night and day.
