I personally consider my 2014 MV5 natural gloss 5-string top notch in all matters: book matched ash body is very much resonating, very low string height w/o any buzz, straight neck, no single flaw in the finish or wood, very light (8.6 lbs) so I don't want less weight to keep the punch in the sound. I consider the work on this model by the TYO shop somewhat equivalent to NYC, though no chambering available (no need).
However you're right: Warwick has to proof their quality being head to head with Yoshi's past "custom shop" abilities.

Exatly, Metro Line Japan, Yoshi's build quality , and the metro japan tone, the big low end, mid, mid hi and hi, is incredible and very lightweight ,similar to Sadowsky NYC. And better yet you have a metro japan prewarwick which this will add more value to your Sadowsky . It's Warwick's turn to prove the force. But I'm sure where Roger puts his name he puts the Magic, the time will speak.

Has anyone seen an official price list for the new German-built Sadowsky Metro instruments? I've searched and could not locate one. Roger mentions the line starting at $2400 in some NAMM videos. But there are several listed on Reverb for well above that. And Reverb listings suggest they are being sold by authorized Sadowsky dealers. I'm looking at one of these but the price transparency is mirky at the moment. Are the dealers marking up the pricing on NAMM samples, perhaps? Thinking I should wait until the "normal" product distribution chains get some normal pricing established.

The lower priced MetroLines (approc $2400)will be released later this year. They will have an open pore satin finish.

The first Sadowskys are showing up on Warwick's site, prices are listed in Euros. So far only the whale blue Namm bass with the roasted neck and quilted top is listed and it seems to be built to order. It is a 2020 limited edition and also available as a Metro. Metro Express basses are supposed to be available in 16 weeks and are starting at 799 Euros for the European market.

I'm waiting on FedEx today with a shipment from Sadowsky. The irony is, the package contains two NYC's that I already own! I just had some work done to them (pick guards added to both, new nut on one, spoke truss rod wheel added to the other). Oddly enough though, it's almost as exciting as a true NBD!

I just want to be clear that this is a goal of mine....I can't say for certainty when the open pore satin finish will be available. For now, the starting price on the MetroLine is $2990.00. Sorry for any confusion.

Thanks to all for helping me decide: Bass 1) weighing in on my curiosity about German Metro (NAMM sample bass) pricing and Bass 2) your impressions on soar bar pickups in the JJ position, 3) helping me select the pickups that met my simple tone goals (trying to be witty like ElMon). Roger was kind enough to take a call from me and get me sorted. So, I decided on the soap bars, buyer and seller each drove about 2 hours each way for the transaction, and this 2014 Will Lee #6823 closet queen beauty is now in its new home. And, first run through, I do like the soap bars. They have heft, which is an adjective I forgot to include in my tone goals. This one is ash/rosewood which is my new favorite combo.

Better than ever. The JJ5 now has a trussrod wheel and the Modern 5 has a new nut. Both got pickguards. The workmanship is absolutely flawless. The pickguard cuts are pristine! I’m so happy!

The nut was always a little close to the treble side. Now it’s a dream to play. I also love the feel of the pickguards on both. It sounds silly to say but it makes an enormous difference in feel.
