Club Sadowsky!!!

Yeah on my Custom Reimer PJ I have a Sadowsky Pre and we just swapped the blend wires, I need to do that on my NYC when I take it in next.

The way the pan knob on a Sadowsky turns the opposite way of other basses confuses me. So, I pulled the knob, flipped it over, drilled a hole in it to get it on the shaft. Now it turns the correct way.

I really hope you're joking. I fail to see how flipping a knob over would reverse the direction a potentiometer turns.

Turning the volume up to 11 is a another solution to the problem.

I realize that we have the urge to justify the blend knob because it’s Sadowsky, but, come on.... it’s backwards.

You turn it toward the bridge and it solos the bridge. The others are backwards

My own view of the blend knob is to look at it as a mid knob, which is what it sounds like to me when it begins to favor the bridge pickup as you pan forward. Or the 'turn up that Jaco' knob. But ... I'm a strange customer.

It didn’t make sense to me until someone explained it similarly- turning it up is almost like turning up the volume because it’s going to cut more with the mids as the bridge pup is dialed in. To me it makes total sense now.

It’s easier than that. The bridge pickup is on the right and the neck is on the left. Turn the knob to the right and you get the bridge pickup

But it’s not. On the sadowsky when you turn the knob to the right you get the bridge. All of the others it’s to the left.

Maybe we're defining left and right differently. When you turn the knob clockwise on a Sadowsky, you get more bridge pickup, correct?

Yes. Clockwise is to the right. Same as on a pedal, or mixing board or, well a clock. To the right, clockwise, is toward the bridge.

When you turn the wheel of your car clockwise, your car turns to the right

Every bass I owned...you turned the pan towards front (clockwise) you get front PU.
Turn Pan towards back (Counter Clockwise) you get the Bridge PU.
The Sadowsky is wired counter intuitive IMHO.
NP, I just rewire the pan pot.

Well I play multiple basses, and I want all of the controls to be intuitive and the same. Sorry, I am a Sadowsky fan and have owned at least 6 throughout my career, but the pan pot situation I've always disagreed with. I have soldering skills and rewired everyone of them.
Consistent.

When I was 18 I rewired the knobs on my bass for volume/pan. There was a little bit of trial and error but what I unknowingly ended up with is the Sadowsky standard. It was not until I got my hands on a bass that was wired differently from the factory that I found out that the bass community had embraced a reverse wiring for pickup pan knobs.

I have a Sadowsky and all my fender jazz turn the same way for when emphasizing the bridge and neck pickups.

I've always found the Sadowsky direction the natural one.
Most of you lot drive on the wrong side of the road anyway, so it's not unexpected.

Great day! I swear, @TimothyGroovy always picks the coolest combinations among the NYC Sadowsky options. He should be a permanent consultant as to what to build for the showroom. (Or maybe it's better for me he didn't...)
