After reading about 2 pages about the pan knob I have an easy solution. Stop playing your other brand basses and only play your awesome Sadowsky and you'll simply get used to it! I think it took me 2 days to get it after my first Sadowsky.

...sorry, my other two basses are Rick 4001 and Spector NS5-J2, which contribute other indespensable sounds, the Sados might not so easily provide.

We did this very quickly to support a virtual event presented by Ottawa Business Journal and the Ottawa Board of Trade. Loads of fun and great to be playing again after the COVID lay-off.

Can you tell if Rogers signature is sealed in with nitro, or just signed over the finished headstock?

On top. I had the shop sand my neck, and when they showed it to me at pickup, Ellis said "ooh, wait, Roger didn't sign yet". Took it 50ft back to his bench, he busts out his sharpie, and that was that.

To be more clear, when rolling the blend knob towards the rear pickup, I'd like the change to be more gradual. Currently, the mid bump seems to happen in the first 1/8th of rotation, I'm looking for a little more nuance.

I've mostly been a single-pickup guy, but IME that's typical for a blend. Same with a volume/volume config: doesn't take much of a turn to make a pickup disappear.

But there might be solutions so consider this a bump.

Lucky Americans don't drive German cars then, if you can't manage a Sadowsky blend control then the German indicator/wiper stalk would possibly kill you.

Having just shopped for a german SUV (less than 5 years ago it would have been a sport sedan), Audi, MB and BMW all have different gear shift set ups, thankfully basses aren't THAT complicated.

the highly non-linear situation with passive blending IS very typical, but it's not as bad with vol-vol configs. And not to revive the endless debate over vol-vol vs blend, I just love the convenience of blend, so i put up with its issues. some companies have tried to design passive circuitry to help, but honestly, I don't think it makes a huge diff.

in short, no biggie, just dealwidditt.

Ok well a couple of years ago I had purchased a Sadowsky M24 5 string that I had traded for a MV 5 in trans white that I sold afterward. I am back in the Sadowsky family with this one now

a MV-4 Special Edition. This one will stay with me.

I also prefer blend. It's easier for me to change on the fly if I need to do that.

Back when I was modding P-basses into PJ, I set them up for Master Volume + J Volume. I never wanted J to be louder than P, so this way P was always max (relative to J), and J growl could be dialed in to taste. Just as importantly, once I had the J pickup dialed in, then I could adjust overall volume level with just one knob.

I realize this wouldn't be acceptable for most (e.g. those who want JacoTone), and requires a reasonably well balanced PJ set, but I loved it. Not surprisingly both of my Sadowsky P-basses have just a single P -- I eventually decided that the mod factor was cool, but I didn't need the J.

I do the exact same thing...have both my PJ’s wired vv.

Another thought for vv in my ‘ocd mind’ ...wanted to make sure the P solo’d had truly no influence from the J. Now, someone’s probably going to tell me wiring makes no difference—but I’ve always been more ‘placebo at peace’ with vv...
