Can you tell if Rogers signature is sealed in with nitro, or just signed over the finished headstock?

Looks signed on top of nitro.

Admiring that VW5, and also noticing that Metro pickguards are on sale, makes me wonder: Has anyone here tried routing a standard MV5 or RV5 and converting it to a PJ configuration, since PJ5 Metros are pretty hard to come by? (I haven't actually looked under the pickguard yet, but I assume it's not already routed for the P option in the neck position...)

NBD Report: Looks like a slow day for Club Sadowsky, so here is a photo journal of Sadowsky NBD and man cave tour. The FedEx guy left a delivery note on the door, but then saw me mowing the backyard and stopped and hand delivered the carton. Very nice of him or I would have had to wait another day.

OK, first run through in headphones and backing tracks. Balance is terrific. PJ5 tone is, well, Tully tasty. Maple 'board just snappy enough for these aging ears. The B string? Lots of fundamental and firm. And, oh, to play some fresh Blue Label steels again! But the pickup pan knob appears to be wired backwards! Anyone ever hear of that?

The new Satin PJ5 takes its place alongside my (used) 2008 NYC Custom PJ4. The ash/RW PJ4 is a little sports car of a bass, don't be fooled by that fancy top:

Finally a family photo with some Fender/Lakland equipment in positions 3, 4, and 5. We also have signatures of the Apollo 14 crew. The wall is authentic Tennessee tobacco barn wood. Its my man-cave, home theater, bass space, projectapollo collection, and morning coffee hang out:

Thanks for the compliment, this project has been a godsend to kill time during this lockdown.

It is an access door into the crawl space.

Check out the first 2 pics and you’ll see the framework.

Built a plywood door which was insulated with two layers of foam insulation for sound and temperature control.

I brought up the reverse pan control because it was the subject of MANY posts just a couple of days ago. Trying to be humorous. Yes, Roger provides instructions with new basses on how to change the control. But most of us adapt. I am good with it. I like ElMon's mental model of clockwise adding mids. Here is a snippet of the wiring for 4 knob Vol/Pan preamp with the pan knob change:

In the past, I've left the pickup blend control alone, but knowing my WL-5 was going to be a "keeper," I opted to break out the soldering iron and switch it over - took about 20 seconds. It just makes sense in my head to be wired the non-Sadowsky way.

I solve the pan pot issue by leaving it in the center detent. Voila...no confusion.

Rolls eyes, It's what you are used to. Every other Bass Manufacturer, don't get me wrong I love Roger, has the pan forward (front PU) back (Rear PU) it's intuitive.

I’m just all messed up then preferring my blend knob the non-Sadowsky way AND driving a BMW that hasn’t attempted to murder me with its stalks!

Speaking of the blend knob (and I use it a lot), it would be great to have a little more nuance. Questions for the group: 1: Are the pots audio or linear taper? - and - 2: Would changing one type for the other make a noticeable difference?

Simple non-soldering solution: take off the knob and put it back on with the indicator on bottom. Now when you move clockwise, the indicator moves to the bridge pickup and vice-versa.

To be more clear, when rolling the blend knob towards the rear pickup, I'd like the change to be more gradual. Currently, the mid bump seems to happen in the first 1/8th of rotation, I'm looking for a little more nuance.

I'm German, so I HAD to change the PAN knob direction!
