I can't tell you how bad I want a bass just like that lol. Really wanting a Sadowsky 5J or 5PJ for my next bass.

Gorgeous...and painful. For several years my main axe was a 25th Anniversary 5/24. Transitioned away because I felt it was too modern sounding for what became my main band for the last 5 years. Sold it...but should instead have replaced the soaps with Nordstrand Big Singles. Live and learn, and may Davidak derive great pleasure from this bass!

Yes I remember your one. Unfortunately you are right, it is very easy to make it different bass just using different pickups, I personally also made it with my soaps -->single coil Nords.

I love it when people put a $5,000+ instrument in the wet grass.

Well, I suppose bass, which is made to last decades of gigs with litres of sweat, cigarette smoke, beer and whatever, is able to stand few drops for a few minutes, before it's wiped out

Sadowsky Blue Label strings (Flats & Nickels):

I am assuming that Mr. Sadowsky has spec’d his private label strings to fit his definition of what sound good (and who am I to argue?) with his basses/pre-amp.
Is anyone willing to share their thoughts and compare the Blue Labels to a couple of sets I am familiar with?

Blue Label Bright Nickels vs. DR Sunbeams

Any other comparisons are welcome as well as reference points.

That's a beauty and I like the pickup placement! I'll bet that reverse-P gives the low end a nice focus and punch. Alder or swamp ash for the body?

Swamp Ash, and it has the universal route, so I ordered a second pickguard with the regular P configuration. Truth be told, though, I love the reverse P so much, I've never even tried the other guard. Need to do that someday, though...

First impressions?

First impression, I need to take these stainless strings off! LOL It’s a nice bass. I have a Metro and 2 Metro Express (Japan) to compare to. The feel of the neck construction is consistent, to me. I like the thin nitro feel of my Metro Express’s better, plays smoother. But all are comfortable to play. Some may disagree, and that’s alright, but whether you buy a NYC, Metro or Metro Express (Japan) you’re getting a good Sadowsky bass. I really can’t tell that much of a difference.

Worn spot in the finish. I believe that's where previous owner rested thumb.

Required a bit a adjusting to get it how I like it, but all sorted now. Things I've noticed....bridge sadle screws are metric...well it is German. I've noticed a bit of pickup from my phone, not something I've noticed on my NYC jazz. Preamp looks totally different, I've emailed Warwick to see if/how pan pot can be reversed. Ordered Dunlop strap locks. The gig bag is noticeably cheaper and feels less protective compared to the NYC bag. I will be using my Mono bags, so not an issue. Also something has to give cost wise, this bass would have cost more than twice the price if it was a NYC order here in the UK. Deliver box had taken good bashing, but bass was ok.

I don't think so, I'm not familiar with bell bronze frets, they look similar to my NYC, but with hidden fret edges

The Satin finish is not fragile. Looks more like it was heavily played/beat. I saw this on Reverb and was like “What did he do to this bass?” There is another bad ding on the lower horn too.

I’ve played my Satin now for over a year and a half and there is no sign of the Satin finish being fragile, chipped or even glossing.

I got another incoming!
