That was made by my colleagues in Japan about 20 years ago. It has issues. I would not purchase one.

Still love my P/J 5 with the ebony board:
Nordstrand MM5.2, but with Sadowsky preamp of course. Definitely sounds close enough to the MM vibe for me, and it has the normal 19mm string spacing that I love.
DAMN that bass kicks a LOT of ass!! I still remember playing that one... a real gem!!

Soon as I heard your clips/read your posts, I knew in that deep-down GAS unconscious that it was inevitable.
That's a beauty and I like the pickup placement! I'll bet that reverse-P gives the low end a nice focus and punch. Alder or swamp ash for the body?

Lots of players seem to dislike the pau ferro boards on recent Fender offerings, but I've always liked it on my Sadowsky basses. Maybe I'm doing this wrong?
I don't know what's going at Fender, but Roger consistently gets great Pau Ferro.
As you know, Roger only goes for the good stuff - the pau ferro Fender is using looks chalky and really low end. Obviously the price points of the brands in question are on opposite ends of the spectrum. The pau ferro boards on my Sadowskys actually look nicer than when I first got them, especially the ones that are over 10 years old.
You guys can count me in on the "disappointed in Fender Pau Ferro" on my MiM Jazz. Chalky is not how I'd describe it, but bone dry certainly is. I could use an ernie ball wipe on it daily. Granted, I live in an arid climate, but I would not buy an instrument with Pau Ferro again, personally, including from everybody. Looks fine, sound is fine, even the feel is OK until you really touch the surface (not just strings / frets), but there are too many other better choices.
Some of the recent Fender models are using roasted pine for their instruments. I am assuming the switch could be due to the shortage of swamp ash. Did anyone have a chance to try one of these?
I was not happy with the pau Ferro on one of my genders but on my Sadowsky’s its much nicer.

Haven’t tried fender pine but had mr Ron Kirn build me a tele with pine last year. It’s much softer than ash but found it to be very nice
Thanks to a fellow clubber I have another Sadowsky on the way, now I really have no excuse to not let several other non-sads go...
