Club Sadowsky!!!

Soooo I just joined the club.

Never enough Sadowsky pics, so I decided to make a few Sunday morning ones.

I do love all Sadowsky basses, but features on new ones are just so cool - bridge with easy strings access, the same with retainer, nut in cream color perfectly matching overall colour of the bass. And of course, roasted maple :)

I love everything about that bass! Very nice! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

The day I bought my Verdine 4 off the wall at Mesaboogie Hollywood, it just sang to me. When that happens, you buy the bass. You don’t hesitate. As I was leaving the shop, there was another guy who came in and wanted to buy it. Sorry dude.

Nice bass! I'm interested in the Verdine model. Can you get the traditional P-Bass sound out of it?

Reactions: Sadowsky
Pandemic gas has struck! I'm enamored by the MIJ MetroExpress line it got me back into the Sadowsky brand at an affordable price. Such a great bass, but I need to sell it for another Sadowsky that I already have picked out! Soon to appear in the classifieds!

This is the one that started it all for me. 2004-ish NYC, ash/maple, singles.

Then this one came along, NYC ash body, ebony board, singles, 24 fret...

Next came this MIJ MetroExpress, new stacked humbuckers, ash/maple:

Finally came this MIJ MetroLine PJ, ash/maple, tho it's got a black pearl guard on it right now, which i like way better:

Yes it seems to me now that the mij Metroexpress could have also been called TGD (the gateway drug). But I’m a little confused by your post, are you looking to sell one of those (burst?) because your attachment to this post had several pictures. If I’m understanding it right let me know as I’ve been keeping an eye out for a five string metro express MIJ
(TGD) ;)
Thanks

5 string will take some getting used to.

After playing 4 string for decades, I finally got a fiver after thinking about it for years. Took me a couple of months to get comfortable on it. It helped to put my 4 strings aside and immerse myself in 5. Once I got comfy, I decided 5 was "goldilocks" for me. Long story short, I no longer own any 4 strings.

I'm not here to say this will (or even should) happen to you. Matter of fact, I recommend that you stay fluent on both 4 and 5 (which I assume is your goal). My only point: don't give up if you struggle with 5 for awhile, it has wonderful benefits.

This is an interesting piece of kit. Has anyone ever used one? Kinda looks handmade. I was not aware this existed before today.

Sadowsky bass preamp and headphone amp RSD-1 | Cesco Bass Gear | Reverb

I've seen and tried one, never owned as I never had much need for a unit with this feature set in one box. These date way back to when the Sadowsky shop was still on 1600 Broadway right off of 48th Street - when it was all music stores. It was actually my first exposure to the Sadowsky preamp as a kid, and I sent a Jazz Bass to Roger to get the onboard pre put in it shortly after.

It is (and does) what it says - the wonderful Sadowsky preamp and a headphone amp and a DI. I guess the belt-pack outboard preamp sold better and was more convenient to use live, so this item may have fallen by the wayside. Still and interesting piece of Sadowsky history. They pop up on the used market every now and then.

FYI:
LaBella has just listed some of their limited edition White Nylon Tape string sets at their Reverb store. You'll need to search for their store: The Guitar Shop NYC

I have the Bubby Goku on one of my Metros and they are sweet, if you're into tape wounds.
