talk about complete luck. I had planned to make an order for a custom modern style and you folks actually listed almost the exact build i had in mind but this is satin finish instead. Very excited

In my experience and as stated by others, Ash/Maple is going to provide a bit more brightness and snap, with Alder/Morado being a bit more round. With that, to me, Morado is closer in sound to Maple than it is Rosewood, but finds a place in between the two. I have an NYC Will Lee 5 that has an Ash body and Morado board and, to me, it sounds closer to an Ash/Maple Bass than it does to a bass with a true Rosewood board.

I always loved the natural look on the Metros. I regret not pulling the trigger on one of those years ago. And, with a Hipshot D-Tuner! That's always the first upgrade for me when I happen to bring a new four string home.

What do you think of that amp? I've never played through one but have always loved the looks.

I like it a lot. The James Tonestack based pre takes a little getting used to as it's not a three band cut/boost like other preamps.

Having 600W @ 8ohms and 1,200W @ 4ohms is nice using these power craving cabs, usually one cab at a time. I often get puzzled looks when people find out that I'm not running through foh and the sound is coming from that little 1x12 in the back line. Unbelievable, really. But that's a combination of Beast and Greenboy cabs.
Well, the Sadowsky helps a little.

Perhaps it was listed in error by Ikebe-Gakki, but my brand new 2020 Metroline RV4-HPJ is rosewood.

All MetroLines and MetroExpress basses since 2003 have been Morado......but we generically refer to them as Rosewood.

TFW you feel like a knucklehead..

A while back I scored a killer Satin Modern 5 (Alder, Indian Rosewood, a couple of you owned it) and loved it so much I had one made with identical specs. When the new custom one arrived I immediately threw flats on it for a bit and then decided Rounds would be more appropriate. Except once I switched to rounds it felt lifeless. Bugged the heck out of me. I'm pretty OCD about my setups so it boggled me why I couldn't get a similar tone to the used one. I spent more than a few nights A/B'ing the two and even went as far as emailing the shop to see if they changed the pickup specs. I was THIS close to putting it up for sale until I decided last night to do some measurements...

This is the only appropriate feeling .. apparently I neglected to adjust the rear pickup after switching strings and redoing the setup. A 64th on either side made a MASSIVE difference and immediately brought the bass back to life. Its been a few months now of head-scratching and second guessing the purchase. Long story short, a killer custom Satin Modern 5 will NOT be making its way to the classifieds and I just saved one of you 3k+ ....
