Lee’s Frankenstein is a special bass. I built a replica (of sorts, didn’t have a 63 P neck to shave down or prototype EMGs), and it’s fantastic. The pickup placement is a bit different as they are placed on either side of the standard P rout. And they are reversed. I love the sound. I originally had Mando frets but found that they bothered my fingers a bit as they were so thin, so I had Paul Unkert replace them with Banjo frets. Those are same height but a little wider. Paul used to work with Roger and did such a fantastic job. Bass plays so nice. And it really does work well in any band context. The only thing I miss is the Sadowsky preamp!

it really is. fell in love with a NAMM bass a while back and had to pull the trigger. should be done in a few weeks or so.
doood... of course! look at my last nyc custom with a burst... lol
The new bass is basically the same thing, just a different color and of course the SP/SJ setup instead of SD singles.
Sometimes I feel here that I'm at an exhibition... 
When I compare my Japanese Will Lee to my Chinese RSD Verdine White, I’m really impressed with the quality of the RSDs.
RSD headstock is slightly thinner.
Similar neck profile
Hipshot light tuners on the RSD… both options feel really solid and stable
Finish, neck pocket, profile… very similar!
The figuring on the neck, very similar in terms of look and feel
String tree vs. string retainer…, I prefer the classic retainer.
The high mass bridge is different, I prefer the ones on the Will Lee to the barrel style on the RSD. I like the input jack on the RSD better. They both use the same truss rod adjustment tool. Knobs both feel solid. I do miss the VTC, but I can always add the upgraded pre0amp at some point.

Here is a peek of the electronics...
The RSD isn't as neat as neat. They also reversed the battery and ground connections on the jack. This causes a popping sound with some wireless connectors. I wonder if I can reverse this without any issues?
I'm also thinking about getting a VTC control plate and dropping it in... that may resolve the issue as well...

You could eat off the floor of the JP Metro. RSD is a bit rough, but that is a price point dynamic I imagine.
I got the Verdine White with a cash + trade SLO MKIIIs deal. For the investment, I'm really impressed. I ran it through my wireless rig and a 1000 watt head/cab at volume and didn't have any of the noise issues that people complain about.
Can't beat it at the price...

I’m new here … pretty much a beginner (6 months into playing for the first time) bought a fender and then decided to treat myself for the longer term and bought myself a sadowsky metroline modern J Ltd edition. I wanted to sign up here to get access to the brilliant resource and browsed this bit of the forum to find a few others having trouble (like me) with their rear covers. Mine is not grounding properly and I’ve sent pics and video to Warwick. All helpful so far so hope to get sorted soon. I’ve only had the bass (which I love) a couple of months and for a pretty expensive bass I’d hoped for better. Anyway, I only need to learn to play now
