I can attest to the fact that the SP/SJ combo is something very special and versatile.

SP sounds phat in either regular and reserve settings, and reverse P plus ‘70s J sounds very tight. Actually, to my ears it’s between a (‘60s) J and a Modern, which I also own.

At what voltage on our Sadowsky basses do we toss the battery and replace it?

I prefer the batt-o-meter tester for this. it does load based voltage testing and gives you an estimate of hours left based on the type of battery being used. best for 9v, but can also be used in 18v systems via extrapolation a little bit. it can also test batteries outside the instrument with the same emulated load.

For the first time ever my battery died mid show last weekend. I switched to passive mode on bass and amp.. problem solved.

And Sadowskys sound great even in passive mode. Boost the amp volume a bit, maybe the bass and mids and you're set.

I just switched the amp into passive mode and I was all set. Sounded great.

If I remember correctly the battery should be changed with a 7.0 reading.

The Bat o Meter has been either discounted or just out of stock everywhere.

I had the Fluke meter and the wires, so this entire setup was completely free.

I'm assuming it's from the German shop.

Bass Freaks (a Belgium shop) is taking pre-orders for these.

Should be available around this time next year.

I figured, with the limited edition MM/J models coming out, that it wouldn't be long before we saw that config on other basses. While I like a MM/J, I can't say I'm too enthralled on the looks of that one - largely due to the EBMM-style pickguard I think.

I have a Batt-O-Meter and though it is flaky at times it is quite useful. How do you use it with 18 volts? Mine doesn’t even read an 18 volt circuit as far as I can tell.

Well, interesting. I hadn’t seen that yet. Not sure I’m a fan of the look but maybe it will grow on me?
