I'm sorry if I offended anyone in ANY way. I did not take into consideration the physical limitations, which often make our minds up for us. From the posts I read it seemed as weight was a preference, like a certain color or wood combination. If weight is a huge concern (no offense) then maybe a jazz style bass is not what you need to be looking at. For those with back problems, have you thought about something like a Curbow Petite w/ a Sadowsky DI? My point is, know what sound you want and find it.

I'll be joining the club pretty soon too. It's been a while since I've been Gassing for a Sadowsky and I couldn't resist it anymore so, I have finally pulled the trigger and that's the bass I've just bought myself: A UV70 with ash body.
Man, I can't tell you how excited I am
and if everything goes according to plan tomorrow she'll be home!

Just got yesterday the Nordstrand NJ4's, Installed them on my NYC ash/morado std an hour ago.
Awesome sound!!! what a great 60's vibe. Very even balance between the strings, tons of punch and clarity, tight focused low mids with the right amount of low-highs.
I'm really impressed, this suits my needs much better at the moment, while I still have the stock HC on my MV4.
Oh yeh, congrats paubass! looks killer. I'm sure you'll love it.

Nice! IMO, you should try the Sadowsky singles in your MV4. Even though they will be in 60's position, the aggressive nature of those singles really gives the ash/maple Sadowsky's a more '70's style aggressiveness' versus the more pure, wide, more modern HC's. IMO!

Oversimplification:
Nordy singles in a Sadowsky... fat, warm, nice organic mids, nice even voicing from the mids through the lower treble, articulate but not grindy or overly bright.
Sadowsky Singles in a Sadowsky.... aggressive grind in the lower treble upper mids, more raw, brighter, gruntier
That's why I dig the Nordy's in the alder/RW instruments and the Sadowsky (Seymours) in the ash/maple.... those combinations to my ear kind of loosely track what many describe as a more '60's versus 70's' type J tone (very loosely anyway).

Your description about the Nordy's is exactly what I hear now from my NYC, despite the fact that it's an ash body.
Knowing myself for more then 42 years, it won't take long before I'll know what you mean regarding the Sadowsky singles.
Life is short, relatively anyway...
