The photo below shows a pickup placement that falls between the modern and 60's position. Bridge to center of bridge p/u is 2.0" and bridge p/u to neck p/u center is 2.75". The bass has an ash body, pau ferro board, and a Sadowsky preamp. Current pickups are split coil which sound similar to Nordstrand Big Splits. Nothing wrong with the current setup but tone is on the brighter side. I have a set of Sadowsky/Warwick soap bars I'd like to swap in to see if the tone might be a bit thicker with more low mids without losing too much clarity. Thoughts?

I soon have one coming and thinking putting dual coil pickups in it, I want the dualcoils's low mid while I still get some sort of single coil flavor. we will see. :)

I have a 2020 Metroline, and need new strap locks. I bought a new Schaller set with the disk and they don't fit on all the way and don't lock.

I bought it used from GC and it oddly came with fender strap locks which also don't fit.

Any ideas on what locking system they use?

Interesting. My japan metro has schallers (installed post purchase and they fit). Interesting to see the little changes throughout the development of the metros.

I replaced the OEM Sadowsky strap locks on my MetroLine Will Lee RW 4 with chrome Gotoh passive buttons. I use a nylon retainer clip instead of a Grolsch, Fender or generic rubber washer. It has a dedicated strap I never change. It works, it doesn't rattle, and doesn't stick out a full inch.

I did the same with my Spector NS-2 except in black.

My mij Will Lee came with ordinary strap buttons as standard. I just added grolsch washers.

Rubber washers just work but on a Fender type button they will turn up like a dog cone. I use a flat nylon washer that I clip a narrow wedge out of. The size is 10mm x 20mm. They stay flat.

Hello, the strap lock installed on the german Metroline since 2020 are build by Warwick .
I bought an extra pair to equip another strap and have spares.

I find them qualitatively less good and harder to use than the Schaller.

I sense the BIG straplock debate coming again…….

FWIW, I like the new Schaller S Locks. The Dunlops are just as great. Just replace what you have rather than hunting down something you already dislike.

Agree that the Warwick strap lock system isn't as good as the Schaller S-locks. They look identical but the Schallers seem more sturdy and I have them on all of my other basses (with the exception of my Fodera which has inset Dunlops as stock from the factory). Although the Warwicks look identical to the Schallers they are NOT compatible, sadly. I replaced the stock Warwicks on my MIG JJ5 with the older Schaller strap buttons using the same screw and this works fine with the S-lock system and all of my straps.

You're probably right, I'll just swap the strap button with the Schaller and call it good.

Yup, the stock screws fit perfectly for the previous generations Schaller buttons. Of course the newer generation S-Locks have a one piece button / screw - and the screw is a bit of a larger diameter than the stock Sadowsky / Warwick button's screw. I do prefer the newer generation because they're quieter - but these work just fine and don't require any enlargement of the screw hole. Luckily I still have some of the old buttons lying around. If you don't then I do believe they still sell them. Also, the Fender strap-lock buttons can be used as they are compatible with the Schaller system.
