I'm actually not sure. If you've got at pre-2017 and need info, call the shop. They have extensive hand written logs.
The site looks great. In the custom order form, there's no choice for a model. Where do I choose the Will Lee model?

That needs to be fixed... the form we were using was causing some issue conflicts with the rest of the site, so we're using a new one as of yesterday afternoon. THanks for the tip. I need to go in and fix this. In the meantime, just call the shop/email roger if you want to make an order and he can help.
Has anyone installed the 5 string stacked coil Jazz pickups in a Japan Metro 5? Thinking about a set for my UV70 5 string. Wondering if any extra routing is needed in the pickup cavities.
Latinbass had them installed in his UV70 by the sadowsky shop. They had to do routing because stacked pickups are deeper than the original split coils.
There is a PDF from Roger around somewhere with a photo showing how he suggests altering the pickup routes. The need to be a little deeper to accommodate the extra coil depth. He suggests only doing this routing under the coil itself and not in the area where the screws come through so that you don't run the risk of running out of wood for the screws to bite into. Its a fairly simple operation for someone that is accustomed to that kind of work.
I ran into an odd problem last night with my German Metroline. Rolling the volume knob to zero did not result in no output. There was still sound. I thought it might be some oddity related to my wireless system, but I tested with a cable today and still had the issue.
I popped off the rear cover (I see I’m going to have a love/hate relationship with that thing, but my Thumb has one too)and gave the wiring harness for the volume control a firm tug. This fixed the issue, but also tells me it will return when whatever I moved moves itself back.
I consider it a minor detail. I only use the volume knob as an on/off switch. But…any idea what is going on here?

I had a connector in my MetroLine Will Lee disconnect itself with no input from me. It wouldn’t mute. Once opened I reconnected it. Perhaps it wasn’t clipped together properly before it left the factory.

As design moves from soldered connections to connectors attached to PC boards, the likelihood of failure can increase. Even if a unit leaves the factory in perfect working order, the excessive amount of movement a musical instrument takes can cause connectors to become ajar. Thats why automotive connectors have extensive locking clips, as where PC boards have a minimal beveled edge to retain the connector.
I recently purchased a Pickup for a build that had a Tip/Ring/Sleeve connector between the pickup and the wire ends. I thought, Why would you need to have an easily disconectable pickup? But the manufacturer added it to the design anyway. It was especially strange as the pickup still needed to be soldered, or connected to a solderless pickup connection. Odd.

Well, this arrived today………..from Australia!
Got rid of the spring bar and installed this hipshot string retainer immediately. Good down pull with less of a break angle, and much easier string change out. The spring bar kind of defeats the benefit of a quick release bridge.
Spent the afternoon, cleaning, adjusting, new Elixirs, Took the bridge apart and put it through a good cleaning. Action, Intonation, neck relief, pickup height… all done. Got an extra long scale tapered B by accident. Will replace with the proper length as soon as I find one. Tightened EVERYTHING. Plays like butta’ now.
I had one of these for several years when they first came out, but had to sell it when I lost my job in the crash of 08’. Such a joy to have one in hand again. And I’m also a fan of the Olympic White….if you can’t tell……

I can attest to this being a good move. I picked up a couple Stage Five gig bags from Bret at Access last week and they are awesome. Same fundamental design as the Sadowsky-logo Portabag but about an inch or so taller with some different pocket/pouch specs and features.

Of course, being TB, the Access is a little over 2lbs heavier
The PortaBag is not a bad bag, and since it came with my NYC (and I got the Access for another bass from NY), it’ll be the one I use to schlep her around. I do like that the PB has dual zippers for all the pockets, but the Stage 5 has a lot more pockets. YMMV.
All that being said, my Mono Vertigo is still my #1 bag (with the Tick attachment).

I recently bought a new PortaBag from the U.S. link. I replaced a old style Sadowsky hard case. I've had PortaBags since the 2010s with my NYC basses, and although this is a nice bag, in my opinion it's not the same quality as the older Sadowsky bags. The zippers don't feel as smooth and the curved padded piece in the bottom of the case doesn't seem to stay in place. That said, the main carry handle is very nice. Very nice bag, but a little off from the older bags.Not to knock the PortaBag, but for $2 more (before shipping & taxes
That is a big price difference. At that price, I think the PB is a much better deal- $211.42 USD at the moment, according to Siri anyways
