I have to say, after my initial troubles getting a low action and now that it's set up properly, this is the best bass I have ever played :hyper:... and that's been a few.
I love the feel, the sound, the neck is sooooo comfortable and easy to play... I'm glad I pulled the trigger and went for it.

Well with the Sadowsky bug in my head and two NYC basses in the house (a fretted and fretless), I was getting the bug for another Standard 4. But with the times as messed up as they are, I am kind of watching my spending. So the solution.....I have a beautiful Fender Jazz FMT. Great bass but I am finding the preamp a bit weak after playing my Sadowsky basses. So.....have a Sadowsky on-board preamp with VTC on the way! I asked Roger if he thought there would be any issues using the preamp with the stock Fender Noiseless pickups. He said no....so I'll let you know how it turns out! This is the bass I am putting the preamp in, as you can see it is a beautiful one and I did not want to get rid of it.

I've heard of people doing this before and having excellent results. I predict you'll be very happy. :)

Here's the spec. for my next Sadowsky :cool: If I could only get our dollar to improve against the USD :scowl:

Anyhow, the bass...

Sonic Blue with Matching Headstock
Alder "P" Body
Braz. Rosewood Fingerboard with front and side dot position markers
18mm spacing / slimmer nut width etc.
Chrome Hardware
Sadowsky pre. with VTC
Weight - about 8lbs

With regard to the pick-up's, can I have some recommendations? I'm thinking definately a Single Coil J, but, what would the best match be as far as the P pick-up is concerned? Is it called a Single Coil P? Can someone tell me what the correct name is for the one to match the SC Jazz pick-up?

What would you go with for the scratch gaurd? I was thinking Parchment?

Thanks in advance for any comments / advice.

A P pickup is a split coil (ie humbucking) arrangement so you can't use if with a single-coil pickup in the bridge without getting hum even when the two pickups are blended in the middle. Most commonly a hum cancelling J pickup is used in the bridge so that both the P and J pickup are both hum cancelling and you don't get the hum problem. You can, in theory use a single coil J pickup in the bridge, but potentially you will always have hum (ie you can't blend it out other than by soloing the p pickup).
