Hey guys here are some mote pics brand new Vintage 5. It' very difficult to capture the true color. It looks blue but it's more "tealish" and dark blue on the edges. But these pics don't show the reality
Cheers!!

I am toying with the idea of getting a sadowsky NYC, I need to order a custom bass like I need a bullet in my head, but that has never stopped me before. Brilliant, I know.

Not sure if I can get the finish I am thinking about, but I think I would want to get as good and nasty of a slap sound as I can, although not necessarily traditional.

With that in mind, would a p/j 5 string with an ebony board and either sadowsky singles or nordy big singles be a bad idea? I got a frankenbass with a ash body/maple board, fralin singles and j-retro, not necessarily looking for something exactly like that since I have that sound covered.

Sounds cool to me, Lamar!

FWIW, I have an NYC PJ (alder/braz. rosewood) and am thinking about ordering a custom NYC ash/maple Jazz with singles. I've had the specs in my head for nearly a year, but I certainly don't need it either. However, lately I've noticed several of my basses don't get played much and so I'm thinking of selling some of them and going ahead with it.

I'm also headed to New York tomorrow for the first time in years, and while most of my time will be taken up by a family reunion, there's a chance I may be able to drop by the Sadowsky shop next Friday afternoon, and if I do, I may end up getting carried away and pulling the trigger. :D

Well, I've had enough time time with my new Vintage 5 fretless to offer up a little review.

This will come as a shock to most of you... it's awesome :D

Out of the box it's loud and resonant. Sounds great unplugged. The neck is about the nicest feeling 5 string neck I think I've ever played. It feels **perfect**. Wide, 12" radius, shallow front to back, ultra comfortable.
Every note on the neck goes "vvvvvv" like a great string bass. :hyper:
Oh, and the out of the box set up was really nice. Lisa you rock!

The Fat Stacks sound great - there are a LOT of great tones to be had from these pickups. It records GREAT and sounds amazing through a U5 or a Neve clone. Very flexible instrument - like all Sadowskys.

Fit and finish aren't even worth mentioning. It's perfect, big surprise :D

So there you go. It sounds great, it plays great, and it's drop dead sexy, IMHO. I'm very tempted to try a set of TI Jazz Rounds on it...

I've said it before and I'll say it again: a used NYC is one of the absolute best bargains in bass-dom. Seeing as there was no way in heck I'd have ever found one with these specs it was definitely fun to have one done "my way".

Another stunningly good Sadowsky. Thanks Roger and Co!

Aren't Sadowsy fretless basses the best! I LOVE mine, hands down the best fretless bass I have ever played! With mine I am really glad I went with the 70's PU spacing, give it that extra punch! Well you have a real beauty there, have fun with it! Lisa worked on mine as well, it was perfect out of the box. She did a great job! Here's mine! (Love showing it!)

I know where you could get a NYC P/J 5er with an ebony board for a good price if you don't mind a "none more black" color scheme. Player her the last time I was in Manhattan for work and wished I could have brought her home.
