Club Sadowsky!!!

I'll have my first Sadowsky in 30 days...and counting haha.

So excited! For anyone that's interested it'll be a Metro p/j in trans white with a maple board :D

Now I just need to find something to distract me for the next 30 days haha.

Dave.
Congrats daveo:hyper:
Don't know if you've ever seen Sadowsky's transparent white, but it's my very favorite Metro finish. Like delicious, creamy white chocolate.
Make sure to post plenty-O-pics when you get it.

Thanks mate.

I've only seen it a couple of times. I was going to get olympic white, but something about the tras white just spoke to me.

I've seen a pic of mine, but it was taken on a phone, so not so great. I'll be sure to take a heap of pics when I get her. It's an 18th birthday present from my parents/myself. So I have to wait haha. Super lucky to be getting one at all :D

They used to do a metro in trans blue didn't they? I reckon that'd look awesome.

Dave

My new Sadowsky has been being built for 6 months now, the specs are:

5 String vintage
Black finish, maple fretboard, Soapbar pickups, BWB pickguard, and Black hardware (Yes on a vintage, very Newsted)

It's gonna be my 2nd one!! I feel so happy I found these basses, and I'm only 24!!

My sense of timing is legion!!!!!!!
Only just drilled new holes in my Metro headstock to take the "Musicman" Hipshot extender (which works perfectly....) but doesnt line up with the existing tuner holes.
Only to discover this has just been released...

Alright, I finally have three things I can say about the Metro RV5 that are little tiny nitpicks that could be different, for me, presonally.

1) the little bitty tuners bug me a tad. I dig vintage, and the wider tuning post hipshots would suit me better, personally.

I have to agree with you on this. I like the look of the larger diameter posts. It does look more vintage, more substantial. The smaller diameter posts kind of take away from what is otherwise a great-looking headstock.

2) 4+1 tuners always look like "hey, we added a 5th string.'' I'd prefer 3+2..

I know what you mean, like the Laklands (my favourite headstock shape with Sadowsky a close second).

3) When I put my amp power cable, speaker cable, tuner, and instrument cable in the case's outer pocket, it wants to tip over when I set it down.

All really minor points, and two of them are personal biases.

It's all about "balancing the load".

"18th birthday present"

Jeez!
I only had to wait 31 more years...;)

thats nothing. back when i was buying and selling vintage fenders around 10 years ago, someone emailed me out of the blue asking me questions about this mint 65 jazz that was up for sale at a shop.turned out it was some people trying to buy a vintage fender for their 15 year old son. i wanted to punch them:D

This bass looks cool in the photo.

But in real life the metallic orange dances like a sunset on calm waters. It's truly spectacular and amazingly beautiful. When I as at the shop last year it really stood out and was mesmerizing.

Wow, great choice of words, Jim! That was an inspiring description.

Not that I needed to hear that, already being smitten with that finish, but still oh suck a sucker for seeing the grain... I say this because I know I am going to get at least one more Sadowsky, and I'm debating the finish options.

Again, nicely said, Sir! :D

Natural is my all time favorite, but I really like the trans white finish too. Looking forward to the pics.

A tale of 3 (or 4) NYC PJ5's...

I'm torn between which PJ5 I want. I have an Olympic white one that I've had for years and absolutely love. I also picked up a beautiful trans Red one (from Vic). No sooner did that one arrive and Sadowsky posted a beautiful black one. I'm thinking about selling the two I have and grabbing the black one - but the more I think about it, I'm not sure that black is my favorite color for that bass. Part of me thinks maybe I should sell the two I have a order a new flamed top, 59B PJ5...

They're all Alder with Brazilian boards - which is my favorite combo for this particular model.

My initial motivation was to get one that was slightly lighter than the white one - which is 9.5 lbs. Certainly not unreasonable but I'm so used to my lighter Sadowskys now...

Man, I told you that one had something special Just all wow factor in every note... its got the fatness of a solid body, and tone for days...

I guess the stars must have been aligned, for sure...

OK, I want it back.......:bawl:
Well, as agreed, you do have first refusal if I ever find myself in that position, but I wouldn't hold my breath. :) This one REALLY fits me particularly well, and is pretty much exactly what I've always wanted. Also, wow, the high end is already so clear and crisp I'm curious to know what the 500K might do. You were right, I'm definitely not highly motivated to change it, but I'm just curious to hear the diffs.

Here's what I (fairly bluntly) suggest... :)

I know how tempting a bird in the hand is, but at this price/quality level, you should have EXACTLY what you want... EXACTLY. I'd say even tho the black one very well meets your weight needs, and probably sounds amazing, don't get it. Pick whichever you like the best between the white and red one, sell the other, and fund a new one with the finish you want, and spec the weight for Roger. He'll nail it for you, and 5-6 months from now you'll have pure magic in your hands and wonder why the heck you ever even struggled with the issue. :)

Personally, I think you should hang onto the Red one in the mean time, but who am I to say. ;) :D

HI
