Club Sadowsky!!!

Does anyone know what the current Metros ship with wrt strings? Is the B tapered at the bridge end? My local shops don't have Sadowsky strings so if I'm going to put another set on I want to get close. I usually use DR lo-riders on my Zon. Also I assume they are 45/65/85/105/130. I need to figure out if I want to try and get this set up or just order an incoming one from NY.

I'm fairly certain that all the Sadowsky basses are shipped with the Sadowsky Blues. I'm not sure if the B string is tapered.

If I was looking to get the bass setup with a set of strings that I was supplying it would most likely be the DR High Beams. It just seems that most of the Sadowsky players either use the Sadowsky Blues or High Beams. Or since you would be supplying the strings then maybe a set of the Low Riders that typically use. The Low Rider nickels are what I used on my pre-chambered JJ5 for years. It always sounded great but I have found them a little too stiff for me now.

It's pretty easy to figure where you are talking about....I'm very surprised that they don't have Roger's strings in stock. And I would think that THEY should re-string the bass at their expense if there is an issue. Refusing to do that sounds like a big box store response.

I had the opportunity to play in church today for the first time and my tone was absolutely perfect (wish I could say the same about my playing, but...). I probably had a dozen or so compliments afterward. About half of them were about how nice looking the bass was and the other about how good it sounded - fat and with a real presence in the mix. Funny how their comments echoed what I hear other Sadowsky owners rave about!

It felt really good playing - since we moved to the UK, I haven't had the opportunity to play, really. Nice to get back in the saddle...

I sure like mine! I get LOTS of comments on the color and the sound. I have never seen another until that auction. Maybe we need to start a club - very elite.

Yep, they do, and yes, it is. :)

Based on what you just said here, I'd strongly recommend you try some HiBeams.

Ya know, I always kinda thought the same thing on headstocks with smaller "Gotoh/Schaller/Ultralights" on a four string.

I though I was in the minority about wanting the bigger tuners on my 4 strings.

That makes a lot of sense. I never thought of that. I wonder if it helps increase sustain, too?

I gigged with my new PJ5 this weekend for the first time and it killed. We do 70's and 80's covers and the flexibility of that bass is staggering. I can cop a classic P bass tone for one tune and then jump to a psuedo 80's keyboard bass sound for the next with just the balance and VTC.

And it's light as a feather!:hyper:

I'm able to get a nice "P" tone with the neck pickup on my jazz as well. I've thought about a P/J bass, but I seem to get "close enough" with this one.

The blend and VTC controls do give you a lot of options.

Yeah, and on mine, given the fact that I've always gravitated towards the maple board'd P's, the same is true for me as well. :)

Don't look for a "J" sound in the blended config tho... the PJ thing is definitely a different sound, but IMHO a very good one (tho I know not everyone shares my opinion on that.) Doesn't matter to me tho, 'cause I have the JJ thing covered too. I hate to say it in this thread, but I'm literally Sadowsky GAS free right now. :)
