Club Sadowsky!!!

You probably have no idea how right you will most likely be, but time will tell for sure. :help:

I might have some idea (said the guy who just bought a NYC about 24 hours after it appeared on the site). But I can quit anytime I want. :hiding:

Of course I may *have* to quit for awhile - icing my right elbow as I type one-handed. Tendonitis sucks...

Ooooohhhh... hey man, I've dealt with a kind of thing like that before, and early prevention/healing is KEY to keeping it from really messing with you. Follow ALL the advice of qualified physical therapists... do ALL your stretches and whatever else (like hot/cold therapy or whatever they said). I also think massage is very helpful for healing as well, and DO NOT make the mistake of thinking you can play through it or otherwise just gut it out. It doesn't work that way with tendons. Careful and deliberate recovery is the way out of that sitch. IMHO anyway. :)

so we're gonna swerve this far?
ok then:

Haven't been to the doc yet. Will go to my chiro Monday (she is awesome - have seen her for last few years for my back/neck). Actually I know when I messed it up - when I got the RV5 PJ. I hadn't been playing much...too busy with work. I got the bass and the next day had a gig. We ended up playing for about 5 hours (with two short breaks). The combo of not enough woodshedding prior, long night and new instrument was enough to mess it up. I've been just trying to ignore it but that hasn't worked. Didn't work with my ex-wife either...

At this point it hurts to grab the bass out of the case with my right hand. Always a good sign. Playing doesn't really hurt though, especially slapping due to the decreased wrist angle. My hope is that I can do what's necessary (likely ice, massage, stretching) and still keep playing, being really careful about hand position. I might have to change my right hand style a bit. I actually played with a pick for a bit today (HORROR!!!). Actually I have good facility with that since I've played guitar for 40 years now. But I prefer fingers.

I actually bought the Sadowsky (well, now two of them) specifically so I could work on more slap/percussive technique. That certainly is easier on my elbow at the moment.

I have faith though. The other night I was listening to the XM jazz station and a live Brubeck show was playing. He commented that there was an error in the program. It said he was 83, when in reality he is 87. I saw him last year at the Hollywood Bowl. He's still got it. I figure if he can still play at 87 then I should be able to keep playing as I close in on 50 and well beyond...if I take care of myself. Now where's that ice bag?

First gig with my new sadowsky and new party band!
Can't be any happier with my Sad :)
Heres a little "not so good quality" video from that gig:

Jesse, that was a fun to watch video. It appears that night clubs are the same in Finland as in the US! And as usual many more guys than women. AND the by far the best looking woman is the singer.;)

It sounded like your Sadowsky filled in a lot of space, which is perfect for a 3-piece group.

Thanks!
Yeah, it is usually like that! but in future we will have more gigs on places where younger people hang out.
Hehe, and sooo many guys came to ask me between sets "Does your singer have boyfriend?!" hahah :)

Yeah, that Sad fills that space real nicely! and our guitar player has really nice "taste" to what he plays or doesnt, so that helps too :)

Man, it always amazes me how well you can hear one of these basses in the mix even in quick recordings like these. Nice. :)

HI

Here is a clip of my new band at our first show last Thursday night. Its an 80s pop/rock thing, no metal. All the early MTV hits, synth stuff, one hit wonders, dance, some rock. Got a slammin' band together. As you watch, you'll see im completely distracted trying to play, run sound from the stage, scan the room for girls! LOL!! Im playing my Will Lee. The audio came out great consider our singer's sister recorded it on a simple video 8 camera, I think. We were kinda sub happy that night but you can still here the bass guitar pretty good. Enjoy

HI

Interesting, Johnny. One of these days, Im gonna ask RS to build me a four string with a flipped over neck. A reverse headstock if you will, with the tuners on the bottom. Kinda '80s guitar thing but I always liked the look. No pickguard, black hardware, fancy paint or a fancy top
