You might want to want to consider perloid - I think it goes rather well:

It does because the blocks are not really white - more perloid like. That said, I have the black guard on - more traditional vibe for me. But, I might put the perloid back on for the funk gig I have coming up

Variety is nice, as is consistency. I wouldn't bring anything but my RV4 to a funk/soul/R&B horn band gig, or o a pop/rock cover gig, or maybe a traditional jazz trio/quartet gig.
On the other hand, I am looking for something more modern, less traditional, for contemporary jazz, fusion type gigs - probably a 6.
Nothing consistent there, but appropriate I think. Much as I'd like to have one bass for all my gigs - and I suppose I really COULD just use the RV4 - I just can't seem to be happy with 1 bass. Gotta have 2, and this is my justification.

SOOOOO true! Although I would kill for a sadowsky, I walk in to a music shop and nothing seems to feel or play half as good as my ****** ibanez that i've been playing for 3 years as my only axe. They sound better, but I can't play as well as I would on my own bass. I think if I were to get a new bass I would need to remember that i would adapt before making a decision based on how it feels when i first pick the bass up.

I can't imagine why anyone would pay so much for a "knock-off made from Warmoth parts" . . .

Is it me, or does the waiting get longer/harder the closer your bass gets to being done?
I was fine up through November, but now I'm starting to feel the anticipation building fairly steadily.
BTW, that PJ5 sure is purty, Vic.
I can't imagine why anyone would pay so much for a "knock-off made from Warmoth parts" . . .
