I wasn't doubting Rodger's words.

It is not often you get a direct answer from someone like that on a forum completely unrelated to the company.


It is like Leo Fender coming in a Fender thread answering questions. Except that would be much more unlikely seeing how Leo is dead.

1) How sturdy and reliable is a Sadowsky Bass in the long-term? Can you beat the crap out of it like a quality Fender, or do you have to baby it?

10 years of honky-tonks, blues clubs, dives, road tours and outdoor venues in a temperate, coastal environment and only one very minor issue with the flip style battery box, that is no longer used.

Check out this old Sadowsky for sale in Japan on Ishibashi's web site. Judging from the looks of it and the three digit s/n, I would guess to say it is around the same year as mine (1988), or maybe older.

He'd play a metro. Believe me, I share a career with him (the reporter/writer part, not the international crimebuster part), and money can be tough to come across.

Captain Haddock would play a Music Man, seeing as they tend to be boat anchors...

My first resolution is to practise more. As it is, buying a Sadowsky would be like buying an Aston Martin, then driving it up and down the lane at 10kph.

Yes you should say "Une (basse) Sadowsky".
I've tried a Metro MV4 when I was in NYC last summer...just loved the sound. I cannot stop thinking about this bass since this day.
And as we say in France "Impossible n'est pas Français"
French translation for "Truss-Rod" is "Tige de réglage"

My main bass is a 1988 Standard 4. And no, I do not baby it! It is like a fine wine....gets better with age. I've had some other Sadowsky owners play this bass and they were all amazed on how incredible this bass feels.....and its 22 years young!
