...and WELL worth it. It's hard not to feel guilty when you have to exercise it, but at the end of the day, it's nice to know it's most important to you guys that everyone is optimally matched with an instrument, to maintain what should be everyone's "Sadowsky experience"... superb.
I felt quite guilty when I sent back the gorgeous JJ but it just wasn't working for my in my hands. I too am glad that Roger is focused on pairing the right instrument with the right player. I lost a little of the guilt when I saw that someone else snatched it up upon return though

Congrats! My bets are you will dig it. I've been doing more knob twiddling recently (oh, and playing my Metro too), and have found a couple of things. First is I like just off center detent with the pan in either direction. Fatter towards the neck, bit more blurb towards the bridge, but still with the unique PJ tone. Second is that rolling the VTC off a bit (1/4-1/3 turn) with a slight boost of bass and treble gives a really nice "laid back" sound that still sits in a mix.
Now thats a P-bass done right!
Do yourself a favour, call the shop and order something like this:
Have you ever eat those scottish cookies called "shortbreads"? They're 95% made out of butter: that will give you an idea of this baby's tone!
That may be, but you don't have a straight Metro P bass. That was the cause of my plaintive whine in the first place. I can't afford, nor do I really need a fancy topped P bass to justify paying the NYC price.

Well, I dont think it had anything to do with what he likes or dislikes. I simply think after a year, or so, of building the hybrids it was clear that most everyone wanted a pj vs. a p.

I can see that too. But I still think it's kind of odd not to offer one. Especially with the way P basses are coming back into popularity now even more.

Well, dont want to go on speaking for RS. I just know that the shop in Japan has a way they do things that lets them offer such a great product at the price they offer it at. No sense in continuing to produce something that has little demand when you can start producing pj5's and other new models which do sell strongly. I think if RS was knee deep in riches, he'd make any metro you'd like but business is business. Dont forget, you can get anything you'd like from the shop in Brooklyn. Its a true custom shop. The metro side of Sadowsky is very specific and has its parameters.

Wow, Even in 5 strings. I had no idea.
IMO that P5 is a NYC. I think I can read it on the headstock and it has chromed knobs (Metros come with black knobs).
