I really am not a huge JJ fan. The PJ though...it is everything I want in a fretted bass.

Unfortunately after today I'm traveling for the next two weeks so I won't be able to pick it up until then. So I've got to wait just a little bit longer.

I just ordered a bulk pack of strings from Roger over the 'net.
The order process, shipping confirmation, shipping overage rebate and everything about the transaction was as easy, painless and professional as it possibly could have been. There is absolutely no way his process can be improved.
The strings showed up blue label and I had ordered black's so, I tried a set really liked the way they recorded. I sent them an email telling them about the mixup so that they could keep the inventory straight and that I really liked the strings and would be keeping them.
This morning I get notification that another package is heading my way from Sadowsky so, I call up there to make sure they didn't accidentally think I wanted replacements. They knew I was happy with the blue labels and just wanted to send another 5 pack of blacks "for my troubles"???? I was really happy with the blues!.
I have one of his incase bags that I have been beating the snot out of for about 6 years and it still looks good and functions perfectly.
I have 2 of his T shirts equally old and well used. Even those things after God only knows how many times through the wash still look good. Not a bad seam or loose thread anywhere.
My PJ5 has seem so much action over the years that my thumb has actually worn through the finish a little on the back of the neck between the 3rd and 7th frets. That bass has never done anything except work flawlessly. It's never needed a set up, the neck has never needed to be tweaked, nothing. Anything that I've ever done action wise was because my mood shifted and I wanted a change in the way it played.
There is absolutely NOTHING that guy touches that is not the best of the best of the best down to a level of minute detail that most people wouldn't even notice. It's friggan spooky how good that guy is...at everything.
Just sayin'.

I got my new tort pg and a 500k pot for my MV5. I installed the pot, and I have to say, if you haven't done it yet, get to it. I was happy with the tone before, but with this particular bass, it made a measurable difference. I'm not going to try to use the standard buzz words (wide, open, tight, smooth etc etc) because they can mean totally different things to different people, but in my bass, it's a keeper. Unfortunately, the tort guard is a different story. I have to send it back with the original for some modification. It's cut a little to big in a couple of places, and won't fit. The holes are off a bunch, so off it goes. Oh well, nothing is ever easy I guess.
I was thinking of getting the 500k installed before it was shipped, but didn't. I'm wondering what the difference would be if I eventually get singles. Would the 500k pot move the singles in the wrong direction, since its meant to move the HCs towards the singles?
More specifically, are the HC or SC... not necessarily what brand... just in case that wasn't obvious in my question.
