Got back my Sadowsky "SWR" from the Sadowsky resort yesterday 
About every ten years this bass makes it back to NYC for a overhaul! This time had a setup done, the 500K pot installed and of course had the VTC put in.
Used it last night at a big show here in Boca with David Shelley (Cher's old guitar player). Wow did the bass sound great! What a difference adding the 500K pot and VTC! This bass is inherently a bit on the bright side due to the wonderful Swamp Ash it is made from. The VTC really helped my dial in the sound, take a bit of the edge off and warm it up. It never sounded better. We recorded the show so I should have some sound clips in a few days.
Special thanks to Roger and the crew for such a fast turn around time!

Anyway, today there's a good reason for it because yesterday I played a nice set during a showcase of the new three CD's published by our collective-label Improvvisatore Involontario.
The set I played in was a conduction (experimental-avantgarde) with the following instruments: drums, bass, baritone guitar, guitar, piano, trumpet, alto sax, violin.
I played the Sadowsky for the first time in public through my recently acquired '70s Ampeg V4B head into a single Accugroove Tri112L.
Well ... I'll never plug into a SS amp anymore. My Thunderfunk is for sale. Period.
It was totally a BLAST!!! The best tone I had ever experienced!!!
At the end of the show a well known and respected in my city scene drummer walked by the conductor and asked him to be introduced to me. To ME!!!! He was very kind and complimented on my playing and my tone.
The guitar player, who's a friend and a very busy Pro (he teaches at Conservatory, writes music for large ensambles, plays in a lot of groups and projects) commented also about the tone and the voice of the bass saying it was stellar!!!
As concerning me, I earned the first battle scar because I bumped the bass against the amp. The natural relicing process of my beauty has begun ...

There's definitely something very specifically magical between a P bass and an Ampeg head. I've generally not been a huge fan of Ampeg amps myself, BUT, with a P bass, I have a totally different opinion. They just seem to compliment each other PERFECTLY.

I used to play my '72 P bass through my V4B with an Eden single 15" cab. Heavenly! But that V4B always seemed like it was nailed to the ground.

I've taken this to a myriad of jobs now, from jazz and blues, to rock, to country.

Mine does a myriad of jobs in one church service! Today we did REM, Kris Allen, and Switchfoot tune. We've done everything from Jacob Marz, Chris Tomlin to NIN and Linkoln Park. A "do everything" tone really helps for those kind of gigs. It's # 4340 with Single Coils. And like Ken I've had no issues with noise despite the fact we play with full light shows, video, etc. Can't say the same about a few of the guitar players with pedalboards though.
