At least if you get them from the NYC shop, they automatically come with the VTC installed. I would imagine they could swap pickups for you, but there might be a fee involved.

My wife runs sound at church while I play bass in the band. Been running off my stage rig with no PA support and told me this morning that the bass was thumping her in the chest at the back of the room. Got lots of compliments on my tone - Sadowskys rock!

On another note, I've been thinking of my next Sadowsky purchase and was wondering if they could do a bass like the one below, except with a standard PJ5 configuration. Not sure if it would work with the pickguard or not, but I saw an off-brand four banger in similar format and really liked the look. I'd either go with 59 burst and a parchment\mint guard OR see if they could do a nice gold with parchment. I wonder if a cream guard or perhaps cream pickup covers would be possible?

Not sure if I would go with RW or maple - not sure how maple would sound with a PJ configuration...

Thats my baby! I have to say the tone is pretty thick and full even with the single coil in the neck position, in fact I dare say its got a thicker tone then my 08 P.

VTC is standard for all Metro basses, but single coils aren't.

Hows the Aguilar GS212/Berg HS210 combo working for you?

Actually I am looking at trading my Sadowsky SA410 ( hint to European Sadowsky club members) for an Aguilar GS212 as I miss my 12" sound.... and still have a HS210.

Have you compared (by any chance) the HS210 to the Aggi GS210?

This combo works very well. I also have a GS112 which works well with the H210s (it's the older slim version). I haven't played the GS210 so I can't help you there. The 3 cabs give lots of different options depending on the gig/room.

I know that's true for ones you get at the NYC shop, as of a while ago (2 years maybe?), but is that true everywhere? That's the part I wasn't sure about.

yup, this is true everywhere. I just got my metro here in Singapore and it came with the VTC.

I have to admit that I've been pondering a 4-string PJ since joining this funk band thingie. I did finalize the order for the NYC PJ5 (alder/morado/thin59burst/tort). I wonder how the Burgundy Mist one played/sounded...though my fav is probably Bartman's 59 burst PJ.

That burgundy mist PJ was pretty awesome if you ask me. If I played 4 strings I could have easily taken that bass home. I don't really dig the slap tone of a PJ bass but fingerstyle it was just killin' and the finish is beautiful

Have any of you guys tried Nordstrand PJ-pickups in your Sadowsky? How do they compare? I'm thinking of changing the pu's in my RV4HPJ to something more old-school sounding.

Man, I wish I'd paid more attention to this when I had a set of each, but my other problem was, the two basses didn't have the same wood combos, so it might not have been that informative anyway.

However, IF memory serves, I think the Nordstrands have a bit stronger mid presence, and a bit more clarity in the low treble region. I'd say they both have great lows and highs. To be completely honest, I really did like the previous set a lot, so really, they're both great, but I do prefer the newer set over the older one.

How significant the diffs are may be fairly subjective, meaning it may or may not be worth spending the money to swap an existing set, but I would think the vast majority of folks would prefer the newer pickups, so at the very least I definitely agree with the generally applied change to the product line.

IIRC, Roger has not changed the 4 string PJ set to Nordstrand, he's still using the Sadowsky PJs built following his specs by Dimarzio(?).

I really like the Fralins PJs that I've heard. Can anybody compare these to the Sadowsky PJs?
