My analog to yours is 4098, literally identical right down to the weight, except for the color, and while I LOVE the sound of this bass a LOT (definite long term keeper), I also really love the more hifi tone I get from 5249 with the HC's in it for a lot of stuff.
That said, I would probably not be as much into the HC's on an alder/rw model.
+1 I too preferred the HC's in my alder/RW Sadowsky, where that wider, purer tone yin yanged nicely with the warmer voicing, purer treble response, and 'less big' low end of that spec. The singles (the Sadowsky Seymours, not so much the Nordstrands) really speak well with the ash/maple Sadowsky J's... grind, bite, punch

Interestingly, with both pickups dimed, I find the Sadowsky singles actually quieter than the HC's... really wonderful pickups.
