Club Sadowsky!!!

Spoke to Kevin at the shop last night. Looks like some JJ5 Singles will be installed next week. :hyper:

I got 2 totally different gigs coming up to check them out at. The 13th is an original metal act that I am sitting in with, big auditorium show backing up Prong, Non Point and Soulfly.

And, then my cover band gig on the 19th, small club venue.

Can't wait to hear how they sound in both settings. I will share my review after the shows!

Sadowsky Standard 5, Ash/Maple, JJ5 Singles, 500K Vol Pot, Markbass F1, Epifani UL2-410. Should rock the house! :bassist:

Very nice!!! I have singles in my UV70 and to me, it just totally kills! I love the growl and bite they have.

I'm gonna' be REALLY surprised if you don't totally dig those pickups.

All this single coil vs humcancelling....Now you guys have me wandering... I'm getting my first Sadowsky jazz 5 which has HC's in it. I'm doing mostly "smooth jazz" gigs and wonder which pickups would sound better for that style. I do have a set of Sadowsky SC's I could put in if I don't like the HC's. I've always liked the single coil sound. :hmm:

For smooth jazz, the hc's should be quite nice.
+1

rdmjazz, IMHO, the HC's will do great for smooth jazz. Maybe after you spend some time with it, IF you decide you need more aggression/grind, try the SC's, but I'd think what you already have on the plate is just right.

I'm trying to figure out exactly which pickups are in my NYC PJ5 made in November of 2001. Are they Sadowsky? Nords? DiMarzio? Duncans? Any info would be great. I've tried to read through the thread to find an answer myself, but no avail. I assume they are humcancelling and not SC?

I'm thinking I might want to swap out my PJ5 pickups with the single coil J/J 5's and turn it into a full on jazz bass. I'd like a little more grit & growl in my tone, and I understand they may be exactly what I looking for. I'm mainly playing prog metal and hard rock type stuff.

Speaking of Single Coils........

How's that Will Lee 5'er coming along??
:hiding:

And more speaking of single coils...

I'm sure it's been asked, but what's in your red bass? SC? That tone is fantastic!

You might want to send an email to Alex or call him at the Sadowsky shop in DUMBO, for questions about your pickups. He was very helpful when I had question on my early Sadowsky. A really nice guy that Alex.;)

Interesting!

Mind walking through your signal chain in that vid then? Thanks!

Direct to board - out to camera.....No effects at all.
For some reason that video got so squished by youtube that it sounds flanged. But, it was all direct.

FYI....that video, along with Craig's should be released this year on the Behind The Notes website.
