Club Sadowsky!!!

Speaking of Single Coils........

How's that Will Lee 5'er coming along??
:hiding:

Stop that......just stop with all that crazy talk... (he is crazy right? I mean there isn't any plans for a WL5 is there?)
I'd have to sell a kidney my daughters cat, or Vic to get one.
Then again, I would get more the cat than Vic.....so I guess he's safe.
For now.....:ninja:

I'm sorry to have to break it to you, Mike, but there will be a WL5. And I will have one, oh yes, I will! :D :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

WHA?!?!??? Seriously?!?!???

OK, someone PM with pricing and specs.....
I'll be selling some stuff as soon as I get them......stay tuned!

Candy/metallic orange with pearl white pick-guard and matching headstock.
All other specs will be standard WL......Oh man......man oh man!!!!!

6 months from when exactly????:D

C'mon Roger.....clue us in!!!!!

Wouldn't a Will Lee 5 string just be a Sadowsky Vintage JJ5 with the mid boost switch? I guess I'm not seeing the big deal here. Maybe it has a tighter spacing at the nut or a different neck profile? I'm sure I'm missing something. I guess the 4 string had the detuner included and a more 'classic' nut width profile also.

Mike, just curious, what is it about this that makes you giddy? I'm not really up to speed on the WL model.

No. There's also the deeper cut, extra frets, and the neck profile is different (as I recall) not just a narrower nut (which is always an option). I'm not sure, but the body may also be different besides the deeper cut, but even if all this is true on the 4, some may be different on the 5. Honestly, he's still in the prototyping phase, and Will Lee is gonna' have to approve it before it's finally released with set specs, so this is all SUPER PRELIMINARY conjecture at the moment.

Interesting. I thought that deeper cut was in all the models now. I guess the neck profile is a big deal, although not sure how one would know if the WL neck profile would be 'better or worse' than the original without playing it.

Just more curious than anything else. I wouldn't want anyone to mess with the Sadowsky neck in ANY way, but I guess there are some that don't dig it and maybe would like the 'different profile', whatever that is. Seems like pretty minor tweaks to me, but I guess if they are all in a good direction for the individual player, that would be cool for some.

It's a very subtle difference. I played the WL and a MV4 side-by-side in the store. I preferred the WL neck, but the difference was very small. The WL neck just felt slightly faster somehow. Never thought I'd find a neck I liked better than on my PJ, but there it is.

And the preamp is just killer.

+1 The mid switch thing would be pretty cool, especially if it had a setting for a narrow Q cut of the upper mids, which is usually the only mid EQ'ing I do on my Sadowsky. The boost would probably be cool with the HC's.. not much mid boost needed with the singles IMO and IME. Edit: I think Will uses the stock HC's in his Sadowsky, is that right? That would make the mid boost thing totally cool, since I always found those pickups a little 'wide and scooped'.

PS.... there are some cool clips of Tal Wilkenfeld playing a gig last night in LA on Youtube. Her tone is smokin'. I assume she using single coils in her ash/maple J... that's what it sounds like to me anyway.... punchy, gritty, grindy. She sounds great.
