Club Sadowsky!!!

I picked up my Lake Placid Blue MV5 yesterday and it's beautiful!
I plays great right out of box... Dave at Club Bass let me have honour of unpacking it and being the first to lay my hands it.

It weighs 8.6 lbs... quite light campared to my SR5. I'm loving it so far! The timing just seemed right with our strong Canadian dollar and my 40th birthday later in the year.

Here a couple of very bad cell phone pictures...

Cheers,
LR

I just got word from Dave at Club Bass that my MV5 in Lake Placid Blue will land next week. I can't wait!

I will be the Toronto the week of May 20 so I may wait the extra week and pick it up in person.

Great bass! I love the colour.

I have bought 3 basses (2 Sads and a SR 20th Anni) and a Markbass F1 head from Dave in the last year or so and he is a great guy to deal with.

Yesterday I took a peek under the fingerboard of my PJ5 and found out it had a universal route ... so I swapped the coils to see what the reverse PJ thing was all about.

Yes, the BEA got tighter sounding ... but they were not flabby to begin with, and they also picked up a nasal quality in the blend position. Thats no surprise, since that same sound is the most common complaint about the D and G on a normal PJ setup. I think it is a lot more attractive on the high strings than the low.

I swapped back after half an hour.

I wish I could get the sound of a P-bass neck coil across all 5 strings. In blend mode with the J, that would kill.

HI

I just put Nordstrand Big Singles into my M5-24. I got them through Steamco in Canada (what great guys to deal with!!!)

What a difference! It definitely sounds clearer and more focused than with the stock PUs.
The stock PU were to "lowmiddy" for my taste. Now I have some high mids as well as well as more highs (as opposed to "ultra-highs").
It kind of opened up.

Maybe it's the ALNICO magnets or the single coils (with the Nordies) vs double coils (ceramic magnets) in the stock PUs, but I clearly prefer the Nordies!

(Btw. I put some custom ALNiCO PUs (by haeussel.com) in my Sandberg PM5 as well and I prefer them to the stock ceramic PUs)
