Happy to say I'll be back in the club next week. Just bought an M5-24 from the Classifieds. Very excited. I had one a year ago and talked myself out of it. I'll try harder to hang on to this one :-)

I think my bass fund is adequately depleted for the foreseeable future.

I do like a "modern" sounding bass for some of the things I do. I like it for a lot of the worship stuff I do, and I have another part time project that it works well for also. That's part of the reason I have missed my Q5 so much. But, I think that reverse PJ does an amazingly high-quality modern tone at center detent, VTC dimed, treble flat and bass just barely open. It is definitely the one "needed" tone that I can't get out of that SC JJ I just bought. (Plus, I think the PJ has has a better B string than the JJ, but I am holding judgment on that until I can compare with like strings. )

If I did get an M5, I would, no question, have to part with my PJ-r or the JJ. Neither of which is really palatable for me right now.

I can't remember the last time I actually played above the 21st fret. I don't know that I ever have in an actual performance. So, that isn't really an issue. I think it is just a looks thing. They're just so hot looking.

I really want one inspired by my Q5: 5A quilt top on alder. No tint, just clear on the raw wood. Ebony fretted FB and chrome HW -- just in case any of you guys win the lottery and declare "Sadowskys for the lot of us!"

One reason I went with the M5-24 is that as I was playing through my set lists with a non-24 fret bass, I found that I really do make use o f frets 21-24. I can't afford a new 24 fret JJ like the yamaha I have so I went with the soaps. I think there's enough flexibility with the active/passive, VTC, etc. to make it work for Brown Eyed Girl as well as well as contemporary jazz, worship and theatre shows.

Good point. Same with mine.

Don't do it. Not worth it. That's a deal breaker IMHO. :)

Tomorrow is the biggest gig of the year for our band. It's a biker GTG out in the middle of rural Oregon, but they have a big stage and full PA and about 2500 people come. Last year we opened for Foghat and this year it will be Jimmie Van Zant and Pat Travers.

Anyway, I will be happily gigging the Will Lee. I probably won't get pics for several months, but here is one from last year, with the appropriate "bass face" for enjoying a Sadowsky PJ at full volume.

This year I'm dragging out my Bergantino IP310 and will be really opening it up. :D I figure most of my sound will be from the DI, so the IP310 allows me to use my Summit TD-100 as a pre, which happens to also be a killer DI. :bassist:

Can't wait to hear the WL really cranking tomorrow. I've got some fresh HiBeams on it and am ready to go.
