Sorry guys, the SC pups are already spoken for.

I had the HC pups and 500K Volume Pot installed last night. We touched up the small Bell Cover
and Anchor screw holes and this baby is getting a Clear Pickguard!! I'm ordering it up on Monday!

Well, for the record, it absolutely wouldn't hurt a thing... including your ability to get good grip with the screws later when putting a guard back on. Also, keep in mind those screw holes will be all but invisible in most conditions. The picture making them obvious is a super incredibly high contrast situation, and a close-up.

Anyway, I'd probably put a guard on that bass, but only because I like the guard... not because I'd be concerned about the holes.

Hey all, I had two questions about Sadowskys.

1. What stain does Roger use on his maple/maple necks?

2. Are there differences in how low you can set your action when comparing with 9" or 12" radii?

Thanks for the help Sadowsky crowd, I will be joining you guys and gals some day.

I welcome correction on this, but I really can't imagine the radius having anything to do with how low you can set your action. That's all related to fret level, relief, and I guess also if you incorporate (what I think is called) drop off... which may even be specific to bolt-on necks.

We use a liquid toner that we add to our lacquer. We use a couple of drops in our regular finish just to soften the look of the bright maple a bit. We use more for our vintage tint. We do not stain directly on the wood.

There is no relationship between action and fingerboard radius. However, one might feel better to you and give you the sensation that the action is lower.

However it is possible that a given specific action would not feel the same for you with different radius boards. With a smaller radius a proper setup will yield in a more curve across the strings. If you don't follow the neck's radius you'll end up with higher action on the outer strings. I think.

Yup, the 5er is gone. My gig situation does not call for a 5 anymore and I wasnt using it as much. So, I got another 4 banger and I am very happy with both of my basses.

The HC pups sound great. Has all that snap I was looking for and the mid boost works well with them. Now my basses are simular and I can grab either one and have my tone in hand.

So, I will say it again. I love the Sadowsky HC pups in my Standard 4 and now my Will Lee!!! :bassist:
