Color me surprised. I remember you having that bass for a dog's age. You can't argue with what works, though.
I can see how the HCs would work best in a big- sounding, loud mix.

The sad part is that I can't play the new UV
So it sits in the case and I can't do anything about it. On the other hand, that must be my punishment.
I broke the arm 2/3rd into the gig by trying to go crowdsurfing on an inflatable air mattress.
People seemed not to appreciate my stunt performance (or they desperatly wanted to see the PJ5 back on stage), as they dropped my from about 7 feet.
Trying to protect my bass, I fell on my left arm rather hard.
I got back on stage, finished the gig (about 1 hour left) and even managed to tear down my gear, before even feeling any pain at all.
The doc is confident though that I will be alright for the next gigs in about 2 weeks.

My keyboard player tore is ACL at our gig last weekend and played through the rest of the set (which was only about another 20 minutes.) Breaking a bone though takes it to another level though I'd say!

I broke my right hand (not on a gig) a few years ago. My splint was on for a lot longer than two weeks. I managed to play a few gigs using the one finger on my plucking hand that wasn't immobilized but it was definitely touch and go. Go easy. You dont want to do permanent damage.
I had 2 separate surgeries to repair a torn ligament in my right thumb and each time had to wear a cast up to my forearm while my thumb was pinned in place.. I had to play fingerstyle at quite a weird angle.. Either I'm too stubborn to miss gigs or too stupid...

Now there is a keyboard player who was gettin' into it! I can't imagine that it would be easy to tear one's ACL at gig while playing keys...
Hey all, here is my new NYC 24-5. What a really nice bass. I'm looking to trade this for a NYC JJ 5 in the same condition. This bass is 3 weeks old. Just wanted to let you guys know here before I post it in the classifieds.
I'm still looking to trade this baby.

On a much less hard-core note, I think I've finally put some of my own mojo into my Will Lee. On Friday night, at the start of a four-hour gig, the callous on my middle finger came off (we had not played much as a band for a while). I was able to play for a couple sets (and thankfully was bailed out by the old bass player in our band -- TBer "arbitrary" who was in town for the day and sat in for a good bit of the gig). But at the end of the night, I noticed I'd given some of myself to my Sadowsky. See if you can spot it in this picture (click on the pic for a closer view):
For the record, a burl maple top does an excellent job of hiding blood spatter.
My singer said my finger looked like hamburger, LOL. I had not brought (or needed, recently) supplies to tape up, and though I was able to get some superglue, it didn't last me more than a song or two.
Saturday I just taped it up good and tried playing with my index and ring finger or just the index finger alone in parts instead of the middle one.
I'm assuming the Sadowsky Everyday Polish ought to work well for getting the blood off my bass and pickup poles? Or should I just leave it? LOL.

That's a great story, Bart! Probably hurt like the Dickens, but it makes for a good story, nonetheless. Back when we used to play out 3-4 nights per week (and I was playing through gear that could barely keep up, so I would really rip at those strings to get all the volume I could), I used to have to deal with blisters/blood on a fairly regular basis. Our drummer found some medical tape somewhere that was just the best thing ever, but when that roll ran out, we couldn't find anything as good to replace it... 
I say swap out for some non-blood-soaked strings, but leave that mojo on the pole pieces!

Yeah, the strings were getting old anyway, so they will go. My problem is that I really like the punchy tone I get from digging in and playing really aggressively. Add a good gig, a few beers, and I often get a blister (which resolves in a few days). But this time my callous just popped clean off, and it sadly happened right at the start of the gig and not a few days earlier as it usually does.
I may leave the blood on the pickups though I hope it doesn't help rust the pole pieces.
I think it does look pretty cool though. My wife was joking that the CSI folks on TV would be able to tell which finger I hurt from the spatter on the bass and control plate.
Jerry J thought you guys would appreciate a visual. He came out to the gig and was witness to my folly.

Personally, I don't think mojo should also represent a bio hazard.
To me, mojo is not bio deposits, it's wear and tear (such as areas of the finish worn through). Just sayin'...

I went to the doc today and he took off the plaster.
My arm feels a bit stiff as I had the plaster for 3 weeks during my vacation in Bali. The doc told me that usually this kind of injury takes only 1 week of plaster.
He was sure I could gig mid-September
That's all I need to know.As for my Sadowsky collection I ahve 3 now: my trusty MV5, a NYC PJ5 and just got the ash/morado Oly UV.
The only Sad I sold was the M24-5 I got from you.
Sorry, it was a great bass (feelwise maybe the best) but the sound didn't fit my needs.
