#4311 was the first Sadowsky that I completely fell for, several years ago. I still have pics of it on my hard drive somewhere.

I'm looking forward to having it back..This will get me back to 3 Sadowsky basses at one time. I have been at that number a couple of times. Never 4 though...Hmmmmm..When does the next stock update come?

Dammit Andrew, I was just getting over a REAL bad case of "seller's" remorse (had to sell the quilt top 24-5) and you go and post that "BAD BOY". Incredible quilt top and still one of the prettiest figured maple finger boards ever. Wow.

Yeah, lovin' that P/J 5. Truth is that blue bass had been in the case since January, had some medical expenses and lately all my calls have been to back up blues guys. Then wouldn't you know last week i got a call for some jazzy/pop performances

A number of people have dibs on the Koa one. It is definitely a killer bass and very unique. It has all the Sadowsky vibe to it but just a slightly different flavor to the tone with the soaps in the jazz position. It has more ballsy low end than probably any bass I have ever owned.
Wow. That's epic. Is that a dark wood flame, or is it maple with a brown stain?

I'd imagine that it sounds very much like my 25th Anniversary 24F 5. Compared to an ash/maple 24F 5 with a similar ebony board, my mahogany/koa/ebony 24F 5 is a bit more full down low and a bit "bigger" sounding, but with a very similar upper midrange and high end.
Edit: I just noticed that the pickup positions on 4612 are in the J-bass positions, so my analogy may be less on point, but I do stand by the idea of mahogany adding a bit of low to low-mid fullness but still staying fairly neutral and open up top.

Toms post is pretty accurate. Yes, the spin is different with the 60s placement. But, overall it has a good bit more bottom end and an overall rounder tone. It does not have the top end sizzle of ash/maple or ash/ebony Sadowsky jazzes I've owned/played. But, it still retains that inmistakable Sadowsky punch. And if you want to talk loud...this bass is it The manhogany/brazilian combination has killer tone It is a unique beast as far as Sadowsky basses go.

Back when I had my NYC 24F-5 I had the opps to A/B it over at Tom's with his, and mine also had the ebony board, tho it had a spalted maple top vs koa (tho I'm not really sure how much the top would alter things.) Anyway, it was obvious to me the mahogany body was adding more low mid grunt, and on the 24F-5, I think that's a good thing. I would imagine that Standard with the soaps in the J position would have a huge fat, yet fairly modern sound.
Outdoor gig last Sunday, my PJ4 sounded thick and warm and got a few compliments:

I totally agree about the mahogany, Tom. I've had/have several basses with mahogany bodies and they do add low/low-mid fullness in a very big way.
That is pretty much the best way to describe it. Huge and fat but with that modern Sadowsky twist. I am not sure why they have not done more of them with the soaps in the J position. I think I remember seeing one other 4 string but I have not seen any other 5's. As a change of pace, I have talked to Roger about getting some Big Singles and trying them out in it. I am not sure if I am going to do that or not. It depends on how bored I get. Doing that is sure a lot cheaper than buying another bass...And when I get bored again..I can put the soaps back.

That sounds crazy. I would just sell the bass to someone like, say, me for instance. Then you could use the cash to buy something else...
