Dude. Take a nap, drink a beer, or whatever, and get over it. Don't let yourself get so frustrated over gear. Remember where most of your tone REALLY comes from... your fingers.
I'm SURE that M5-24 you're trying to sell doesn't exactly "suck", even though you know it's not the end game, so I'm figuring you're not exactly "suffering" while you do search for your match. I'm betting you just need to get yourself into some kind of ash/maple J bass and you'll be happy. I would recommend you at least temporarily suspend your 24 fret requirement, however, and just get the next great looking MV5 that comes along, while you eventually watch for a 24 fret version to show up. I'm pretty sure that's the order in which they'll show up in your search, and no reason to just "do without" because you can't find a 24 fret model in the near term.

No, it doesn't suck. I'm not suffering.
I'm guessing a J bass would be more suited to my gigs.
I can probably lose the last 3 frets.
Actually, I think some of the "mid honk" issue is with my Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0-12T combo cab.
So...a nice M5-24 for trade for a nice MV5.

. Just didn't float my boat. I was thinking along the line of a Metro PJ4 with a JJ body and neck.
I play the bass that's right for me, and that bass happens to have 5 strings...
