Club Sadowsky!!!

wow, with a reverse pj, the p and j pups are pretty close together...

nice rig!

It does look that way. It makes for killer B string tone, though. I MUCH preferred it to the conventional positioning.

As much as I am enjoying my stuff these days, I will always miss my reverse P-J. As soon as I can justify expanding the herd again, I think it another will be at the top of the list. I don't have a traditional looking/sounding bass right now, so I "need" one, right?

I've gigged the "converted to SC" RV5-JJ twice now, and man, that is just sooo much better for me than the HC thing.

I do have to say though: to my ear, that hard shiny morado board makes that bass sound a little bit like it has a maple board, or perhaps, "not so much like a really soft rosewood board.

This is not criticism at all, cause I love that bass now, but it sure seems a little more focused and sharper than some "real r/w boarded JJ's" I've had.

+1 The somewhat heavier, nonrouted RV's with the Morado board kind of sit between the lighter alder/true RW NYC models and the ash maple. I can see where the SC's probably soften the click a bit up top on those and punch up the low mids, just like on the ash/maple models. I again preferred the HC's on my NYC lightweight alder/RW model, since that bass benefited from the bigger low end and extended top end of the HC's to my ear.

Nice... I bet that sounds great... a assume a bit more growl and a touch less grind than the ash/maple with singles.:bassist:

Well, right now, it's kind of a tie...the RV5 has fresh Blue Steel on (thanks Vic!) and the MV5 has a set of Blue Steels that are on their way to being pretty tame.
I'd wager that if both had fresh strings, the MV would be snappier on top.

Exactly... per my post above, I would guess more growl, less grind (i.e., snap and brightness up top) than the your MV... again, sitting kind of in-between an ash/maple with 60's positioning (MV) and a somewhat lighter NYC alder model with the warmer sounding true RW board.

That RV is a unique spec and they seem to have a 'voice of their own'.

OHH Yess im finally in!! I`ve always wanted a Sadowsky because of all the praise it gets on this site but one main reason which got me to want a Sadowsky is the fact the Roger Sadowsky himself takes the time to come on Talkbass and answer questions or whatever in this thread. That to me is freaking awesome. I had posted something years ago telling him I would eventually own on of his basses (when I could afford it) just for that reason..lol

Well I got one now and its amazing. A MV5 with VTC and HC pickups. Used to be owned by someone on this forum...can't remember who though.

Its a wicked bass. My only regret is not getting a 4 string instead. I always try to get used to the 5 strings but just can't. I`ll stick with it a while longer but if can't get used to it might post it up for trade for the same bass (or similar) but 4 string.

Its the opposite with me, i cant get used to 4 strings at all (probably because i started on a 5)
Great tone from these basses, hopefully its a keeper for you.

I love the burst on Rogers basses, have you thought about a black pick guard in yours? it would look great!

A little vid from a while back. We threw a crew party on a cruise ship gig I was on and got a few musicians from each band together to do a song. There are a few skipped notes in here since we were all sight reading and I forgot my chart!!!! Good thing I more or less kinda knew it! This is with the VTC all the way up.
A little Led Zepplin w/ horns and strings!

Very cool. I have been learning this song this week. Playing it instrumental at church this weekend.:bassist:
