Club Sadowsky!!!

Damn you Fuzzbass and Roger Sadowsky... This MM model is going to cost me money! I've always wanted a 19mm MM5 styled bass. I dig the Lakland's but I'm really so much more comfortable on 34" scale basses these days.

I've become such a Sadowsky over the last few years, this option has my name written all over it!

Yes, I think that Whitey might be opening a floodgate with this option. I'm betting that we will see a few more of these showing up on peoples wishlists. It sure is a beauty. I really like the in-your-face white. Finishes like this look killer under colored stage lights.

I do love my mid 90's SR5 but it a bit of a challenge with the tighter string spacing. Mine has an crazy great B string though.

+1 Interesting that the Lakland 55-76 never caught on, but my theory is that people thought it was just a 55-94 without the neck J pickup. That was not true at all. the 55-94 MM pickup is not in the correct location for a good MM tone. The 55-76 pretty much nailed it, although the Seymour Duncan MM pickup is not (again IMO and IME) exactly voiced like the old mid 70's MM.

Carey Nordstrand has NAILED that old MM pickup tone though. My buddy Mikebass has a Valenti with one of the Nordstrand MM pickups in exact MM location (not sure which Nordstrand MM pickup it is... there are a couple), but it just nails that vibe (with a Sadowsky pre also!).

This is just a wonderful thing.... full spacing at the bridge, 34" scale, Sadowsky quality, and that very nice (IME) Nordstrand MM/Sadowsky pre combination.

I'm kind of done with the MM thing myself, but man, this seems like the bomb for those who like the sound, but are less than impressed with that tight string spacing and heavy weight of the EB MM 5's.

When I played fours, I loved the MM tone about as much as the P-bass tone. For years my workhorse rock basses were a Sabre and a Cutlass I. I love the tones on the MM Stingray 5 (and the ones I've played have had excellent B strings) but the narrow string spacing has been an absolute deal-killer for me all along.

When I ordered Whitey I told myself "Don't expect a Stingray 5 clone with wide spacing", but wow, she's got a lot of that sizzly/growly MM vibe. Can't wait to rock her out this Saturday.

Hi

Lol. Looks cool, Chef. Im thinking a black pickguard and a matching headstock. Ive throw around another bikeplate signature model but Id really like LPB and I think it looks best vintage style. My other idea was black, maple board, black hardware, diamond control layout. Im leaning towards the blue bass, though.
