Haha, no I really don't doubt how great of a bass I'm going to have, but my main bass I have been playing for the past 5 years is a 1966 fender jazz. I'm so used to this bass that I'm afraid the complete wood change will be too drastic. Then again one of the main reasons I opted for an ash/maple NYC is to have that "opposite" end of the tonal spectrum. To me it was kind of like acquiring the flavor of a 1970's fender jazz to complement my '66. Rest assured I'm still extremely excited.

I did the same thing - I have a Fender Custom Shop alder/rosewood to cover the "other" tones. They complement each other very well. Different tools for different purposes, and all that ...

I wasn't referring to product quality. I was referring more to customer service and working with you to make sure you're happy with your choices.

Just to further elaborate:

With ash/maple there is an artifact on the front of the note, like a pop or ping, some kind of percussive thing, that just isn't there to my ear with a RW board. I don't know exactly what it is, but it bugs me so bad I fight it the whole gig or end up rolling off a lot of the top end and getting buried in the mix. Like I said, it is so obvious to me that I am "afraid" everyone is hearing it. I don't want to play out.

It could be a technique thing because to some degree, I have fought it with every maple FB bass I have ever had.

That would explain the whole "afraid" thing. Humans are genetically predisposed to fear things that growl.

Tech Services came in earlier today and installed twin 20" LCD monitors in my office. While it has been nice for my programming work, I have to say that I most appreciate the fact that it elevates the supersizing of photos at the Sadowsky site to a whole new level!!!

Dang, you guys are making me doubt my NYC ash/maple Sadowsky I ordered...

Dont doubt it for a second. You will love it. I can make my ash/maple as warm or fat as I want if that is the tone I am needing without being lost in the mix. And that cut and aggessiveness is there if you need it. You will be very happy Trust me.

I dunno, they want a bit much for it.
Its used and the used prices on Metro's is SIGNIFICANTLY less.

So, is the price worth the extra fret, deeper cut-away and the mid boost????
