Are those Sadowsky stamped tuning machines unique to the WL, or maybe unique the four banger?

I'm about 20 minutes from the Shoppes. Our "kids" can play together any time you're available.
Well, that's why I used the word "may". I really don't know what all could affect a poly finish... oxygen exposure too? Maybe long term exposure to the mylar? I'm not a finish guy, but if there literally is nothing at all, then yeah, not a concern. I just don't know that's the case.

Dont think it'll mess anything up Vic. I've made up some bass yin/yang stickers on mylar and adorned the head of my basses for years, with no effect at all.
Plus you know that clear mylar doesnt let bacteria pass thru, in case you DO play nekked.
Another VALID observation that has nothing to do with that....... when I started playing this comfortable but only 20 fret neck (which I vowed I would NEVER use again), something came to me. While we want 24's, 35", 34" and all these other mechanical preferences; I realized that for me , anyway, its all bullcrap. Basic feel, fret work, magnetics, yes. Other mechanical minutae....?
That's almost limiting your musicality by thinking like that, imho.
The 20 fret felt oddly familiar. Well yeah DOH! Cut my teeth on a 20 fret 4 stringer from 1971 thru 1983, it should have. Picking the instrument up after a 20 year hiatus, I felt I needed a "modern" 22 or 24 fret neck, but took the UV5 as everything else was right about it. Well, the answer is I was thinking too much about stuff that simply doesnt matter!
But I DO have to bend the string just right to hit that high E . And I've already forgetten I can't hit high F or G with this bass. And it isnt holding me back, its almost the opposite. How queer, but how cool.
Nice instruments these Sadowsky's. I can see why my " if I was a pro I'd do that" role model Mr. W. Lee digs 'em.

Not sure I understand. What's actually "limiting" about enjoying or even preferring other configs?
Cool! Went with the HC's, huh? Man, I need to hear a set of the 4 banger HC's.
Not really noticeable? Man, I don't notice a THING. That's a beautiful top!!!
I had the opportunity to go to Brooklyn to place my order. While there, I was able to play most of the different types of pickups, body woods and fretboard woods.
I went in thinking I knew what I want. After 3 1/2 hours I ordered something completely different. The WL wasn't even on my radar going in. Going out, it was the only one for me.
The HC's won out because I tend to favor the pickups either blended evenly or all neck or all bridge. And my bandmates would give me the serious stink eye if I was buzzing like a nest of hornets. At some point I'd like to try SC's on a few gigs just to compare but for now, I have no complaints with the HC's.

Well, also, from what I understand, the 4 string HC's are pretty different from the 5 string HC's I'm used to, and pretty much seem to get unanimous raves. Not that the 5 string HC's are bad (at all!!!), but I don't see nearly as many 4 string players switching to SC's as I do 5 string players.
FWIW anyway.

Not that I've done it, cause I haven't, but I could see HC's working better with an ash/maple WL with the mid control; compared to my experience with them, which was all alder/morado.

Per my discussion with KJung, I'm gonna give the SC's in my bass a few more gigs, but I may go to HC's as I kinda like the bit smoother (to me anyway) sound.
Plus to soften up this ash/maple combo.
My fav combo was alder/rosewood with HC's in it. But Also had a ash/rosewood that had HC's that KILLED.
So, maybe after the new year if I decide to swap them out I'll let ya'll know and maybe if someone has a set of HC's laying around, we'll swap or sumthin'....
