@Jim C all Electras have final piecing together in Germany, yes the parts are made in Indonesia, but QC and final sign off is back in the home country.

with regards the TT vs the VM and new purchase - are you not just highlighting the sonic difference between a P type vs a J type bass?

Also, I noticed that the passive tone control in my TT5 behaves weird. When I roll off the tone knob the tone becomes honky and nasal. Looks like the wrong pot is used, not sure though.
No, I think that's just how it's designed. Mine probably works the same way, from your description. It seems to operate on a narrow margin and with a higher frequency threshold than I would have preferred. It's useful but a little too subtle for my liking. I wondered if playing with different cap values might get me where I'd prefer it to be, but I decided to turn it fully passive with a Tonestyler control, since I don't particularly like the EQ the preamp provides and I won't miss it.
If anything needs to be redesigned in these instruments, my opinion is that it should be tone control for passive mode.
I think Anton's TT5 is fully passive anyway. Might be worth checking that the capacitor is stock or that there's not an issue with pots etc.
My TT4 passive's treble roll-off works as I would expect (from all the Fenders that I used to own).

I placed an order a few months ago for a TM4 with a 3-band EQ. I opted for the Delanos but am second guessing my decision to not go with the black labels. It's probably too late for me to change my order but I also don't know if I *want* to change my order since I haven't heard the Delanos in person yet. Do you know if it's possible to purchase the Black Label TM4 pickup set directly from Sandberg if I decide that the Delanos aren't my cup of tea and want to swap them out? Thanks!

I only have experience with the Electra VS and was comparing it to a passive Fender.
I was confused by the VS and TT names being used by both the German and Electra series.
I see now that it is the same idea as a Fender Precision vs. a Squier Precision.
Are the Electra series also run through a Plek machine?
My experience with Sandberg says Yes. Through the dealer from who You placed an order for a bass, You can also order a spare parts. I had luck with that in the past with Sandberg.
Yes, you can purchase from Sandberg directly. I would have opted for the Black labels being punchier and a little more full, but this is based purely on specs and advice I've been given on TB.
Their production has slowed down immensely so *maybe* they can still do the swap the Delanos for Black Labels.
Ok I asked my sales rep if there's still time to upgrade to the Black Labels. Now it is in the hands of fate!
He probably wants to kill me at this point LOL!!!
Man, I didn't know this was an option. I generally like how my VM4 sounds but there is something Im not loving, and I wonder if the pickups would improve the sound to my ears. I might talk to them and see if I can get a set of Black Labels to swap in and try out.
