Club Sandberg (part 2)

Well, it’s here, and just like every other Sandberg , a total winner.
A quick string change, set up check , drop in a battery , take the protective film off the pickguard and we are ready to Roll.
Interesting back of the neck…

So I'm totally new to checking out Sandberg's. I'm interested in the California TT's that are paulownia body and very light. I've seen some that are offered with "Sandberg Black Label T" pickups and others that have the Delano pickups. Seems that the Glockengang built Sandberg preamp is in both.

Since I'm not local to a dealer - I'm curious for any input on the difference in sound from the Black Label T to the Delanos. Anyone with experience with both care to comment? Thanks!

I am pretty new to Sandberg but now have two that I purchased used one with Delano and one with the black label
love them both just fine!

Wondering if anyone has swapped pickups in their Sandberg TT4, and what you might suggest for a more 60's/70's Fender-ish sound.

I love the pickups in the American Pro II Jazz basses, but not sure they'd fit the actual bass.

Any suggestions or links are greatly appreciated!

The stock pickups in the TT4 passive are fantastic (Sandberg Alnico 5). Very vintage with both pickups on and a very full sounding neck pickup by itself.
I tried a few replacements when I had my older active TT4 but these are fabulous.

You know, maybe I'll change my strings, lol. Last couple gigs I've had issues cutting through on songs that require heavy slap, like Higher Ground. But maybe it was also too much compression and older strings. I'll give that a shot before I decide to swap.

Did you settle on any replacements for your active TT4? I have an VM5 and have been going down the string rabbit hole and am thinking about maybe a pickup swap as well. I enjoy Alnico pickups a bit more than the Black Label ceramic. I don't see any vintage (Alnico V) Sandberg P pickups on their website. Might have to try some Nordys.

I put some Nordstrands on it and was very happy (not a fan of the ceramic big pole Delanos).

I took them off when I sold the bass, intending to put them in the passive TT4 that I bought. The Nordstrands stayed in my drawer.

The Sandberg Alnicos are also available for sale as aftermarket I've seen.

Yeah, I listened to it again after I posted it and it sounded more mellow and polite than I remembered! I can only assume that it's the signal chain.

My own TT4 passive sounds very vintage (I've owned many Jazzes) and also has tones between front and both pickups that remind me of a Gibson Ripper (It is a mahogany/birdseye maple body though) The front pickup does a very convincing P tone.
