Club Sandberg (part 2)

For the TM models, the switch isolates the front coil on the MM pickup (at least that's my understanding). Does anyone know or has anyone reconfigured the electronics so the switch isolates the back coil on the MM pickup? Or has anyone modified with a different switch so you can select front/both/back?

Thank you! Yes it is, paulownia body and maple neck/fretboard. The stock strings were 40-120 with a suffering low B but once I went up to 45-130 the low B had a much better timbre. Didn't have a problem with the G and with the 45 it's as it should be. No dead spots at all. I EQ in a bit more bass and step back on the treble but the strings are super fresh so it'll work itself out in a couple of weeks or so.

I have an Oliver Riedel sig Sandberg up for sale on Reverb if anyone is interested. Great looking and sounding bass but need to make room for other gear. I also prefer passive. It has a passive mode but prefer my Fender.

Well, I just joined the club this evening. I had a 5-string HY5 Birdsong 5 years ago that was awesome but the 5-string just feels like a cricket bat in my hands so I sold it back to the owner. I've been looking for a fretless that might suit me since then. I think the 4-string StingRay Special would have been a good fretless for me but all I've found are 5s. In any case, I heard Julia Hofer playing her Sandberg California II fretless passive and the sound was exactly what I was looking for.

Does anyone know what strings ship with these? They have purple silk.

Nice !!! Ernie Ball slinky cobalt flats have purple silks.

Congrats! That's a beautiful color finish and the (mostly) bare fretless board is classy. I like that. They give you enough of what you need on top without covering the entire fretboard.

Hey low end friends,
Been lurking long enough and my GAS for a Sandberg is bad! I’ve yet to have an opportunity to get my hands on one and figured this might be worth asking in this group…
Anyone here in the MD/DC/VA area with a Sandberg that would be willing to let me check it out, in person? Ideally looking at a VM or TM 5er, but would be happy to check out whatever might be local-ish.
(Of course, I’d bring along something fun from my herd for the owner to play!).

Yeah, that was a real bonus for me. I like the side lines and dots as it makes finding where I want to be easy without ruining the look of the unlined fingerboard. It's not a color I would have gone for ordinarily either but this was the option Thomann had. So it's quite different from my other basses in that respect too which adds a bit of variety.

Hello fellow Sandberg owners. I'm interested in getting a double humbucker. I have 2 Sandbergs now and absolutely love them so the VM2-5 is an obvious choice. Though I also have G and L's and love them too. Has anyone here compared a VM2-5 and an L2500. I'd love some input on tonal differences. These two basses are not plentiful where I live. Thanks in advance!
