I've just got a California TM4 in Lake Placid Blue, ebony board with block inlays and matching headstock...I'd post a pic and join the club if I could figure out how to add a pic! Any advice?

That's a sexy bass ! Similar to mine somehow ! What colour is that pickguard? White, mint or parchment?

I went for the Parchment scratchplate as I thought pure white was too stark. Don't see too many of the Lake Placid colour ....suppose I'm just old school!

Good choice. I have a parchment pickguard en route, it will replace the mint green one i can't stand !
Finally! Ordered in february, landed in Sweden today, feels great! Sandberg VS5, vibration treated, soft aged.
Looks great Strummer!! Nice bass!
Here's a few more of my VM5 Marlowe Red soft aged. Got it today, wow what a bass. Seriously punchy sound and the neck is absolutely incredible, one of the best 5 string necks around!

Just got my new custom order bass from Sandberg! It took 5 months until I got it... But it's worth it. The Blackburst finish and overall build quality is just amazing. It's got Haussel single coil pickups. So, what is my number? 
Great to follow the discussions here about the brand, as there aren't as much Sandberg owners compared to Fender for example
The only thing I'm struggling with is, it was delivered with very low action, but also lots of fret buzz so I had to give the neck some relief and heighten the bridge elements. Now the buzz is OK, but the action is too high! Still trying to find the sweet spot of adjustments. Anyone else experiencing this with custom basses from Sandberg? They have a very good reputation so I expect low action should be possible without too much fret noise?

I don't have a custom, but I'm sure the two I bought from a dealer's stock were built in the same process (actually, dealers just place their own 'custom' orders). That said, my passive TT4 has the same issues. I get medium action at best, and that requires more fiddling than with my Chinese Squier.
My VM4, on the other hand, can easily be set to very low action (for my standards) with no buzz, even when digging in, with light gauge strings.
The Jazz still plays well and sounds great, but the VM plays in a different league.

That's a bit disappointing to hear about the TT4, can you tell if the frets of the VM are different? Or is the neck width different?
I'm quite sure that the necks are the same for the TTs and the VMs. Width, profile, frets - I see and feel no difference.
I might take the TT to a luthier some day to check for high frets or other problems. So far I'm happy to play it, even with medium action

OK, good to know, thanks. My setup is reasonably playable right now and the TT sounds awesome, low or high notes. Although my bridge height is still more than I'd like, so I might further try tweaking the neck vs. bridge balance.
