Club Sandberg (part 2)

Can anybody tell me more about this california bass? I’m new in Sandberg’s club. How can I identify it? Thank You

It’s the old California 1 shape (same as a Fender) but it does have the tuners and bridge from the California 2, so I guess it must be a late California 1 from 2015.

Looks like a California TT passive (v1), hardcore aged or masterpiece.

Has anyone found a nice short scale bag for their Sandberg.

The ones that come with the bass are ok - a bit on the thin size and they are full scale. Just checking.

I have my Florence in a real nice Gator guitar gig bag - fits really nice, but for the Lionels it is a bit to snug.

Only had it a few days now - but great bass with a great sound. Will let people know more after a while.

I did play at Church Sunday and the front of house guy said it sounded great, and he prefers my Lionel bass overall.

I use a Serek bag for my Reverend Sentinel and Nordy Cat - it's bulletproof and fits 'em like a glove. They're both about 41-42" stem to stern.

The Cali just stood out above Fender P American Elite, a 77 Jazz and Sadowsky MetroExpress.

Nicer to play, more versatile, better build etc.

I understand they come with lightish gauge Nickel roundwounds - 40-100. Bit bright?
Anyone changed their strings? What to & why?

I ordered a VM4 after trying a couple of Sandberg 48s in a shop (that's what I wanted, I thought), but found the VM4 nicer to play.

I hated the original strings. Went to DR Pure Blues which was better, and eventually settled on DR Sunbeams.

Thanks for that. So many strings options but I've limited experience. Are the Dr less bright??

The stock strings are Sandberg's own stainless steel rounds. I found them very bright sounding and quite abrasive under the fingers. I prefer D'Addario EXL nickels on mine.

I went with Labella flexible flats, which are amazing

TI rounds and flats on my VS4s, TI rounds in my TT4. I don’t like stainless strings and do want to eat the frets up

When I had a Basic VM5, the strings I liked best were Cobalt Flats.

I have a new Sandberg California II Superlight Medium Scale (32.5"). The dealer included DR Sunbeams (Nickel). I did not like the tone of the Sandberg stainless steel -- changed to the DR Sunbeams. Night and day.

Add me to the trend about people switching out the stock strings to something else and liking it. I have two VS-4s and changed my stock strings to EB Slinky Cobalt rounds and they also made a significant positive difference.

Gator Pro-Go for electric guitar. I bought it for a Mustang bass and it fit perfectly. Now I'm using it for my medium scale (32.5) Sandberg California II, which is a little tight but still good. I think it would be a good fit for the short-scale Sandberg. It is excellent quality with lots of storage. Check the measurements first.
