ah cool, thanks nrssab.

so i have sandberg pickups and glokenklang pre :)

its great knowing that company's can still have close relationships with not only the consumer (which is alone amazing) but with local company's too.

Yes exacly! Glockenklang and Sandberg PUs, I have the same and it's a great combination IMO.

Sandberg really has grown in the last couple of years, but they really do theire best in keeping every customer close and also building the basses by man. No unessesary machinery.

I don't know if you have seen it, but there is a video on youtube which shows the Sandberh workshop.
Here is the link (there are 3 parts):
Workshop Video 1
Workshop Video 2
Workshop Video 3

Please watch!

Now that I heared about Sandberg using Häussels AlNiCos I have to try them out. The new Panther has them!

Enjoy

GAH! spent the better part of an hour looking for part 4..
I LOVE my Sandberg and I will NEVER sell it!

yeah those clips on youtube is what swayed my cash from status graphite.

i love my status, and i know it was built in similar conditions. just i cant get over the shape of the standard status graphite body, its too square.

when i saw what goes into the build process, i was sold. that and i loved the sound and feel of the one i tried a few years ago. and i love the fact they are all European built and designed :)

from what ive heard of haussel im very intrigued, but im not a J bass fan so no big deal :)

Hi
Got this link from Gregor Fris at Musik-Schmidt playing the new Sandberg Umbo 5-string. I have ordered a lefty one in all black

Thanks for posting this, I havn't seen this yet! But I do know Gregor, he is a great guy and real Sandberg specialist. Shortly ago he did build his own custom bass, getting help and parts from Sandberg. Very stunning his own creation, its a all maple bass. Using quilted maple for the fretboard and top of the body. I don't dare to post photos as he told me that he dosn't want it to be copied.

Ursus, please post pics and feedback once you got the Umbo!
Hope to see it soon.

Thats cool that you decided on Sandberg. A Status is definatly way different, and much more expensive bought new. It's a question of taste thats for sure.
I have never played a Status, but from what I heared I do prefer the sound of Sandberg.

Yes Häussel are said to be something special, I'm also not the J bass fan but I'm very interested in the Humbucker that Häussel makes.

Ive just discovered these fine looking basses. Never tried one but I really want one. Id like to get my hands on a JM5 Supreme although Id like to find a used one somewhere - not keen on buying new instruments.
Whats the deal with the scale length? are all 5s 35"? I seem to be getting different info everywhere I ask (online stores).
Anyone seen one up for grabs?

Hello Elsharko!
The scale length is usually 34" even on 5 strings, but one can get the 35" opional ordering a new bass. You can check out Sandbergs homepage, they have a pricelist on there you can see how much they charge for opional stuff. Just don't get the idea wrong that a 34" scale bass dosn't have a decent B string.

For used Sandbergs I would check out the german ebay. Thats where one can find the best deals, www.ebay.de.
Also check the store musik-schmidt, they sell new ones but give good discounts.

Good luck, and feel free to ask any further questions.

As for Gregor Fris' custom Sandberg, there's a picture on Sandberg's website... So everyone can see it, although he'd like to keep it "secret"...

Yes thats it! :D
I asked him some time back to send me some more pics and he did, very cool design.

Is there any news in the sandberg club? Where are all the new basses that have been ordered?

I happened upon a Sandberg Panther 3 band pre unused and popped it in my custom Stealth Lakland 55-01. Nordstrand Big Singles do most of the talking but I do like the clean and evenness of this pre. Never played a Sandberg but they sure have my interest now.

PS. That California looks real nice!

We played in Arnstorf (Munchen, GE) some Andrew Lloyd Webber's pieces, like Cats, Phantom of the Opera,..., on the rehearsal i asked our singer to make a photo with my equipment... here is the result, think about to send it to Sandberg and ask some fee for the best publicity :))))
