But you asked for pictures of my Sandberg sixstring? Here are a few. Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures... but they are the only I have here right now (at work, you know)

Thanks nrssab! I finally ordered my fretless! In stead of the Ken Taylor, its going to be a 5 string Bullet Booster, redburst, with one M-style pickup, I have ordered at the Bass Gallery in Netherlands. Great shop! www.bassgallery.nl.

This is my new Sandberg Thinline, 5-string fretless. It sounds really great, with a very acoustic sound. I'm using it with a EBS ValveDrive Preamp, and an ARCO DB510 500 watt combo, and it really kicks ass

Although the intonation is a PITA to adjust
a bit off topic mate, but i know u have mentioned ur PM 4 many times on this thread, so i was wondering, do u have any recordings with bands or by urself btw??? wud love to hear it dude!

My PM5 is modded with Haussel PUs (and has a Sadowsky preamp, too now).
I have used it on an album last year, but honestly I can't recall on which of the tracks I used the Sandberg and which ones were the other basses....
I´m thinking about to get an 5 string Umbo. Anyone here played one, 4 or 5-string? I want your opinion.

I tried an ash bodied 4 string Umbo recently.
It played great, similar to my California JM ,but I was left a little confused by how it sounded.
It may have been the Trace Elliot combo I tried it through but the 3 position switch (bypass - ultra clean and dirty mid) made the bass sound a little strange with some combinations of pickups.
I was expecting the switch to be some sort of parallel /series option but the pickup blend worked in all 3 positions (just not quite how I'd have expected).
I'd need to try it again through a different amp as this was the probable cause.

Interesting....how did it sound in bypass mode? Reminding of a Fender Jazz? Can you get a decent jaco sound with the bridge pup and slap sound with boths pups?
This was the problem. In bypass mode (or in the other 2 modes) I couldn't get that burpy Jazz back PU tone. The blend control had a relatively subtle effect.
I have a feeling I may get different results through my Markbass gear though.
Hmmm... well I don´t belive that changing amp would change things. This is strange if you not able to get a decent sound out of it.
I discovered that they got one model in creme that is hard reliced. On that bass the bridge pup is closer to the bridge, looks to be in Fender Jazz 60´s position. On all other colored basses the bridge pup looks to be in MM position. Maybe that is one explanation why you couldn´t get the brigde burpy sound?
I've just looked at the website pictures and seen what you mean but the cream Umbo looks to be 70's spacing while the others are 60's.
As Jaco's was a 60's Jazz you still should be able to get that sound. I'm still thinking it was the 15" Trace combo not providing the mids in the right place.
The sound wasn't bad - just not what I expected.
I can get a great Jazz sound out of the Delano's on my JM4 using the coil tap btw. I've found that it's good to cut bass and treble rather than boost and therefore lose mids in a live situation.
