Ian774, that new custom JM is great. I really like the match of the black and vigin white. Great choise. Enjoy her.
Tomve, that is a very special bass you have there. I have seen very few of them around, and that is the first 5 string I see. Very very nice.
Suggestions for a Fretless 5? Depends very much on which sound you are going for. The custom thinline models ar great, have a beautiful and unique acoustic sounds. And the other Custom model is also very special. Those are the top notch Sandbergs in my opinion. Check out the link:

Hi Thanks! I see that Bullet has a 4 bolt neck, while the others all have 6, for the 5 string. You have any idea how that works with sustain and sound?

From my knowladge there is no loss in sustain and no segnificant influence in the sound, which is anyhow very special depending on the choice of woods or pickups on that bass. Those models are usually orderd custom, so you have the power over result.
Once I saw this Bullet Special 6 string with a Maccassar Ebony top, it was stunning and the sound must be unique.
You can contact the guys from musik-schmidt, they are very helpful and can tell you much more about the sound! They are also one of the best for custom requests.

Hey all, I'm thinking of picking up a used Ken Taylor Basic 5, but when I was checking it out the other day, I had a question for the group.
I'm paranoid about being ripped off and so I noticed a few things that I wanted to confirm with folks who really know Sandbergs.
1. The Sandberg logo and name on the headstock appear to be a sticker--that is rubbing off. Anyone know if they ever applied stickers rather than engraving? The owner couldn't name the year of the make which leads me to my next question...
2.I can't find a serial number anywhere. Where should I be looking?
3.The owner has no case--where can I buy one?
The owner is a legit collector and a nice, trustworthy seeming guy, but I just want to make sure I'm not about to get screwed. The bass sounds great.
Hopefully I'm the next member of the club.

sandbergs come with a decent gigbag so, it would not have a case anyway...... unless he doesn't even have the gigbag?
im not sure on S/N or decals as i dont have mine yet
i dont however see sandberg as a first choice for a rip off, so as long as it plays and sounds fine then it should be ok

Maybe you could ask Sandberg a new sticker if you prove them your (future) bass has its sticker ripped off.
On mine, it's behind the headstock. I recently took off the neck to put a little chock, but I didn't notice a serial number on the body. Anyway, mine is a custom shop, so maybe it's different with standard basses.
Very nice choise Tomve. Ken Taylors are nice and have a very good tone. Will be great to see it soon, there are not many fretless ones around.

Stickers instead of engravement, I'm not very shure about when they were useing such thing but certanly they have. To make shure, could you post some pics so we can see.
The serial number should be on the back of the headstock.
Sandbergs come in Gigbags, if you need a case you would have to buy a general one, which is easy to get (I heared the ones from rockbag are quite good), or get one made.
Hope that I would help, if there is any more questions or news please post them. Also some pics would be nice to be shure if it is a real Sandberg. Note that most Sandbergs have theire own hardware.

the gloss on the neck (a custom order) is smooth as silk, and the tobacco burst is really soft and shows the grain brilliantly........

i am still really surprised at the playability and tone of the bass, not to make it sound like i had low expectations, far from it. the bass really is blowing me away every time i play it
